Dez was better guitar player than Prince in the late 70's! The proof is the kick-ass guitar he does on I feel for you (from the City Lights: Atlanta)

Of course he was. Prince became better as time went on. Prince is good at many things. Not the bast at some. Those who are better are no longer with him. Christian Zombie Vampires

I have to say that the pre-revolution band is kick-ass! This must be my favorite live boot. The songs from Prince and For You really work live! Andre also does some great bass on Sexy Dancer!

I like all the pre-1999 concerts because of the complete lack of subtlety in the performances. It was Prince at his rawest and nastiest.

also according to what Chris moon said... he did not pick prince out because he was the best ...but because he (Chris) though prince would be the easiest to work with.

chemistry is everything, Dez and he had a mick and keith like chemistry, who cares who was better, they both were top of the line even at that time. Dez still had more feel than anyone prince came up with and that means a helluva lot. The solo on Little Red Corvette is my alltime favorite and Dez created it.

U all R truly trippin.
Dez was profficient, and I liked his style 2, but the 2 R truly incomparable. Their styles R completely different. Prince is most definately far more diverse, and by a long shot. But with the comparison thing of "who's better", it's like asking "Who's better? George Benson or Jeff Beck?" Just because Dez played in the band with Prince, doesn't mean U can compare them in the incredibly vague category of "who's better?" By the way... that all being said... 2 my sense of musicality, my ears, as a guitarist... I'd definately say Prince is far "better"... [Edited 1/14/07 15:55pm] "He's a musician's musician..."

don't discount Prince too quickly back then
check out some of his shows from the very next year, 1980 Prince was rockin' it quite a bit with several extended guitar jams and Dez, yeah he was great, but never got too far outside of his own comfort zone and i base that on all the music (i've heard) he's done since leaving Prince [Edited 1/14/07 16:01pm]
