I had a rare surprise at work on Wednesday. A bunch of us were waiting for 2 lawyers to settle a case and the other lawyer (who knows me) was telling me he got tickets to the Hard Rock Show on the 31st. The other lawyers overheard and all of a sudden everybody had a Prince story including one guy who used to play with Black Sabbath! Turns out that 3 of us have actually met Prince and while we were swapping stories the court reporter chimes in with "he's not Prince anymore, he's The Artist". eek We quickly brought her up to date, LOL.

I'd never in a million years expect to meet that many prince peeps unless I was at a show. It was like the Org. in there for the better part of an hour. lol

They were excited about the show but none of them were familiar with 3121.I did end up explaining Beautiful Strange to one lady though. cool

A paraphrased quote from a former co-worker after seeing Prince in 97
"My girlfriend said,I swear, he was f***ing that piano!"

A neighbor of mine (a stoner/dead-head type) bought Sign of The Times because he loved "U got the Look" so much. He then bought Purple Rain and started vibin' off of those two albums.

When LoveSexy was released, he promptly shelved his Prince albums. lol

I took my daughter to see Prince at the Musicology concert and she had never seen the movie "Purple Rain when he sang it at the end of the show, she said it was the saddest song she ever heard, I never thought of it that way, I was surprised, she cried when she watched the DVD too! She doesn't really like Prince but she says he is such a sad person. My daughters not a kid she's 22 years old. confused

They call him the "rainbow guy" for some reason and they say he's gay and that they'll turn off the tele when he's on at the superbowl. They also say I'm obsessive with him and that Micheal Jackson is better because MJ has more jokes. Jokes as in, 'micheal jackson is like santa cuz he knows when ur sleeping'. THEY ARE SOOO IGNORANT! disbelief

Many non-fans I've talked to ask me why I like Prince. I tell them why and they commence to saying how he's gay...like that's going to stop him from being a good musician or something confused . I just look at them and say, "I don't believe he's gay, but if that's the only reason you don't like him, than you have a serious problem." Most of the time, I have been able to make non-fans at least admit to liking one or more Prince songs. Then, they start talking about how awesome "Purple Rain" was and how his performance at the Grammys and/or Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame were awesome. I stand there listening to them wondering why they just finished talking mad shit about the man, only to praise him a minute later....rolleyes Stupid asses. One girl I used to work with told me that she didn't like Prince and then a couple weeks later was raving about how much she liked this song called "Darling Nikki" that was performed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Another girl told her that it was a Prince song and that he preformed it 100 times better. She stood their with this shocked look on her face at which point I told her that he had performed with Gwen Stefani on No Doubt's "RockSteady" album - she was a huge Gwen fan - and I told her that Gwen is a big Prince fan. Man, did she feel dumb and I loved every minute of it. biggrin

From my experience women are always more into Prince. Usually men don't get his music, because they can't pass the whole image aspect (high heels, make-up)..

Most of them aren't too interested or are freaked out by the sexual lyrics but so far everyone has just stopped and listened when I put Purple Rain on then asked me to send or give it it to them somehow cool

My friend's son is a huge Elton John fan. He says he likes some Prince music but can't get into Prince because he's "odd".

I asked him how he could consider himself an intelligent person and fail to see the irony of that statement? lol

He's a bass player named David Spitz. I think he said he played with them from '82 to '85. He's a lawyer now.

This is a funny story. My friend Dion--who is a dead ringer for P and always acts like him--and I were at our fave eatery that has an outdoor waiting area. So as we're waiting Dion turns up the cd he's playing and "Head" comes on. I mean he cranked it and insisted that we dance to it. We were the only customers at the time so I danced along with him. A few moments later, a low-rider pulled up and a man stepped out. He was a huge gangster hardcore dude with chains and the wife-beater and all. Dion continued to dance as the guy made his order. On the way back to the car, he stopped and asked who was singing. When we told him it was Prince, this was his exact comment:

"What the f***? Prince? The little short motherf***er? Damn! I gotta buy that CD!"

And after he got his food the guy did drive over to Best Buy!
I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me.
Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots.
Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch
