![]() ![]() My favorite song on that album. And that yellow suit... ![]() that's also my favorite song. It's interesting how Prince approaches a song differently. I thought I would never get over how good Eric Leeds' part is during the live version in '86, then I witness and hear the guitar heavy version at Club 3121. Both equally a great treat.

the intro to this song is the most head-bangy music prince has ever done, i think. and before everyone gets all spastic, i didn't say "best" or "heaviest"...it's just the easiest to ![]()

I haven't been to 3121 yet, but he played it at the Empire in May and I swear to God, if I'd had room to fall, I'd've been on the dayum floor. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. That song is the epitome of SUBLIME. I love listening to it several times and following a different instrument. The feelings of a new relationship where all the simple daily rituals collide with the lovely simple pleasures. The album itself is a brilliant, quirky, diverse, challenging and artfully funky masterpiece. The songwriting/composition is at a Princely high. When did he lose this type of introspection? I don't think that even P appreciates this album enough. It England it always ranks as one of the best ever on many polls.
When is WB gonna remaster this gem?

When is WB gonna remaster this gem? I love the album he could do no wrong in this period as far as I'm concerned, however, many americans, fans and journalists alike were turned off by the classical strings and I thought it was great, actually he may not have even composed the beginning of this song, that was possibly done mainly by Claire Fischer, at least on the winds. I love the funky, quirky use of all the instruments.

yeah, well it is great, but americans have a pretty justifiable dislike of classical music because they have the perception of it being peopled by snobby individuals. It's pretty true, but really, rock musicians are probably worse in terms of arrogance and much worse in terms of self discipline generally. Being a musician who is eclectic like Prince and partially because of him, I have journeyed through different styles and I could not handle the snobbiness I found in classical music. The other musicians can be just as bad but their arrogance is based on something other than a superior "culture" or whatever.
