Will "Gold Nigga," "Exodus" and other hard to find albums ever be released for sale again?

Hi, I'm trying to get as complete a Prince collection as I can and so far I have 25 of his mainstream released albums and several DVDs. I was wondering if you people think that some of his more obscure stuff like "Gold Nigga," "1-800-NEW-FUNK," or "Exodus" will ever be released for sale again? I think it's a real shame that some of his fans missed out on these albums and new fans will surely have interest in them after the Super Bowl.

Who knows.

I can envision some time in the future, after Prince is dead, that, say, a re-issue series or boxset of The Time, Vanity 6, Madhouse type stuff might get a release. But they're all on Warners or PP, and from Prince's hey-day.

Gold Nigga was a very small release any way, and Exodus wasn't even released in the US (IIRC). It looks doubtful that Prince would even put them up for download on any future website because of the lyrical content, but maybe that particular foible will fall by the way, and they might be made available for download.

Who knows. razz

Your best bet is second hand for all the hard to find stuff.

Seriously, somebody would have to be one sandwich short of a picnic to pay that much for it. Two songs on it are worth listening to at best.

Exodus was a huge improvement.

News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Yes, that's true. Prince's Crap always gets souled off to the used bin.

It's a pattern. The public get a bit excited about a new Prince album & buy it, and 6 months later it's filling the used bin.

I haven't sold many back, myself--no proper Prince albums--just 1999 the new master, 1800newfunk, GCS2000, the beautiful experience EP

I think the $700 one is the (even) rarer 16 track version that contains Guess Who's Knockin' which was later pulled b/c of sampling issues with a Wings song. The 'cheaper' one is probably the regular 15 track version.

They are rare, but not worth $400 or $700, imho. I paid quite a bit for my 16 track but nowhere near $400.

Personally i hope that a better, more important Prince CD could be distributed properly. I mean, one of his best albums from the nineties, The Gold Experience, is very hard to find in record stores. Of course i have this one myselve allready, but for people who are interested in buying it, its a shame this CD is so damn hard to find.

Two other CD's that need to be rerealed in my opinion:

The Family CD: not a perfect record, but some of his best, endearing collaborations with Clare Fisher are to be found on it.

Jill Jones - Jill Jones: not only its probably the best album ever released by a Prince-protegee, Mia Bocca is in fact my favourite Prince song EVER, alltough its not sung by him. A shame it isnt available at CD.

I have a copy of both of these and the never see the light of day. Why would you want to throw your money away on the so-called side projects. Only a couple of songs on the Exodus is enjoyable but the rest.....?

I can listen to for free and put my money towards a real P-product.

I can't believe this. I used to go to his store when it was open across the street from Calhoun Square. They had an endcap set up full of the Gold Nigga CDs, and I just ignored it because what I had heard was so mediocre.
Exodus is decent, but I don't think casual fans would really want these re-released. I think they're for serious fans only.

Because if you're a collector, you want to have everything he's put out and it is a 'real P-product'.

btw...be careful buying either of these off of eBay, there all a lot of counterfeits being sold. If you don't care whether it's an original or not, that's one thing, but they're pirated and I don't think people should make money that way.

Dandylionrecords.com has a sealed 800NewFunk for 7.99. I've ordered stuff from them for years and they provide great service. They have a lot of Prince & associated artist items. I bought a German tracked Lovesexy CD from them not too long ago.

I loved 1-800-New-Funk, and I listen to it once in a while.

I liked Exodus, but I hardly listen to it other than Return Of The Bumpsquad. I'm really not into Sonny T. singing.

I absolutely hated GoldNigga. I had an original when it came out and I actually threw it away. I am somewhat of a completist when it comes to Prince music but this didn't make the cut.

For those of you in the Detroit area, check out Hot Hits on Gratiot/12 Mile. They usually have the odd 1-800-New-Funk there too.
