sott vs trc vs lovesexy

for me these 3 represent Ps finest works

1: sign of the times

2: the rainbow children

3: Lovesexy

What order would u put them in?
trc hit me after years of me thinkin' he'd lost it. I wonder what inspired him on that one, I can't just put it down 2 another religious trip.

Judging only these 3 albums . . . SOTT/Lovesexy/TRC.

SOTT, to me, is Prince's finest work ever. Lovesexy is an amazing spiritual journey that really welcomes you in (with arguably some of the best Prince guitar work on CD).

TRC is also amazing - but it's more "religious" than "spiritual". It's more informative and cautionary than it is liberating and welcoming. Easily his most focused work since TGE.

Never listened to tge much. That song "gold" is almost as bad as the song "graffiti bridge". TGE is for me a weak album, there r enough bad songs on there.
Your explanations of the 2 albums was interesting, the comparison of religious and spiritual, very interesting.Thanks. You didn't put them in order.

Lovesexy saved my life.

I started to put TRC next as I really can't listen to SOTT anymore but SOTT is a classic.

I was a 19 year old suicidal mess when Lovesexy came out. I was dealing with my bisexuality and that album gave me such a great sense of hope and a reminder that God loved me.

1.SOTT is the greatest assortment of musical diversity and well crafted lyrics ever in my opinion. In my eyes, some of the greatest songs known to the human ear are featured on this album.

2.While not as great as SOTT, TRC does feature some absolutely amazing music as well as highly spiritual, controvercial and bold lyrics.

3.The spirit of Lovesexy is certainly in the right place but as enjoyable as it is, I'm one of those who feels it's a bit overrated in my book.

lovesexy does have somethin' hard to define. I was 18 at the time, and also having a hard time. it was a help ,but to a lesser degree, I don't know how I survived my late teens, or even if I did.

Sign O The Times - This is one of Princes best albums ever. Although the rank of my "all-time fav. prince albums" is ever changing Sign O The Times is always in the top 5.

The Rainbow Children - One of Princes' most unique and daring albums. Has a great "mature" sound to it. It's his instrumental album w/ singing.

Lovesexy- A Pefect effort, great fun, inspiring album, filled w/ the funky funk!

I love all three of 'em, but there's some stuff on TRC I don't care too much for and as much as I adore Lovesexy, it doesn't contain as many fantastic songs as SOTT.

I don't consider any of those to be anywhere near Prince's best work. However, using those three, I would place them in this order.....

1. Lovesexy
2. Sign O The 60s and 70s
3. The Rainbow Children

Sign 'O' the Times

Amazing. Every song's placement on the album makes perfect sense and the album itself shows more maturity and creativity in the compositions and lyrics than anything else he's done.

Lovesexy

Joyous, life-affirming and brimming with constant energy. His most "feel good" album ever. It can soothe and celebrate your life at the same time.

The Rainbow Children

A little too narrow-minded, but it's definitelly pretty brilliant. It's his easily his most wonderfully produced album ever with its organic sound, and Prince hadn't sounded this inspired since his work on The Gold Experience.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

gotta agree with sexxydancer on this one. All three albums represent a different mood and era in Prince's career. It is like picking which child you love the most because U love them all just slightly differently. But I know U by your posts dribbler, if forced to I would list SOTT, Lovesexy, and then TRC. But again I feel the question is dishonest to his journey. Why make them versue each other, and don't you like different themes on different days and years?
