Joni Mitchell Tribute Album w/ P. Wha, no Roses Blue? C'mon!
http://www.chartattack.co...1/0908.cfm Prince, Sarah McLachlan and K.D. Lang are just some of the artists contributing covers to A Tribute To Joni Mitchell. The 11-track set, due this spring from Nonesuch, also features the likes of Björk, Sufjan Stevens, Elvis Costello and Annie Lennox singing the songs of the 63-year-old Fort Macleod, Alberta native. Meanwhile, Mitchell has been back in the studio recording new original songs. What she plans to do with them isn't known, but if released, they may comprise her first album since 2002's Travelogue. Mitchell said at the time that it would be her last record since she was quitting the music business because she was unhappy with the state of it. Mitchell was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 1981 and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1997. Her next such honour will come when she takes her rightful spot in the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame during a gala ceremony at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's John Bassett Theatre on Jan. 28. Here are the songs on A Tribute To Joni Mitchell: * Sufjan Stevens — "Free Man In Paris" * Björk — "Boho Dance" * Caetano Veloso — "Dreamland" * Brad Mehldau — "Don't Interrupt The Sorrow" * Cassandra Wilson — "For The Roses" * Prince — "A Case Of You" * Sarah McLachlan — "Blue" * Annie Lennox — "Ladies Of The Canyon" * Emmylou Harris — "Magdalena Laundries" * Elvis Costello — "Edith And The Kingpin" * K.D. Lang — "Help Me" * James Taylor — "River" Love wins. (Seen on bumpersticker) | |
