Is Prince....

The only true artist left in your opinion? If not Prince, then who else qualifies for the title?

He certainly is.Every1 in the past is a hasbeen, and every1 in the present has no future. The only would-be competitors r dead,so it goes without saying that NO 1 qualifies 4 the title.Prince is THE artist!

Exactly. Alot of old artists haven't even continued music,Prince breathes, sleeps and eats music. It's in him. Alot of artists have just retired, not saying they werent good, but Prince will be making music till the day he dies.

no

there are many others. i wouldn't look in the top 40 for them, but there are lots of other "true" artists out there still creating credible, decent, "real" music.

"real" musicians just aren't en vogue right now, so we don't see them splashed all over the media. we'd rather see pics of britney upchucking. confused

Plublicity stunts, sells more media. People rather see things, they can go down to a club and see, then listen to good music. Everyday stuff happens, but since it's a celeberity. It's news.

I think he is one of the last true artists. There are others. He is very courageous and very gifted and I think this goes a long, long way for him.

Heiress

Of course not. There's loads out there, most of them unsung.

As for known musical artists, look no further than Joanna Newsome. Completely idiosyncratic, does her own thing and seems not to give a hoot what anyone else thinks. Confident and articulate young lady.

I always find it so odd that people still ask that question. I guess people that don't listen to him a lot might think that. I guess.

Prince is one of a few true artists left today who really care about real music, but I don't think his genius and creativity can be matched by anyone.

When I think of artists, he is always they only person that comes to mind. He is an incredible lyricist/musician/performer.

I listen to some of the songs and am stunned at the amount of talent this one person has. Something to behold.

No way, there's still.....me. razz

But seriously, there are many artists who may not have made it big yet, but are very talented and innovative. Who knows what the future will bring? There will never be another Prince, but there could be someone else who will blow us away with their own unique style and artistry.

I used to think so,
but as I've grown older & therefor, I humbly admit, wiser,
I've expanded my palette of artists to include those who are willing to expose their coochie in order to express the absolute totality of the collapse of their careers.

I would say Prince is a TRUE artist, but i also consider myself a true artist & many of the other musicians i know & listen 2, I'm passionate about my music & I've worked my ass off everyday 4 the last 10+ years trying 2 develop my art & trying 2 get a break.

It a shame because i think the majority of people out there still want 2 hear music from TRUE artist's who r PASSIONATE about there ART (whatever it may B) but most record companies R not willing 2 spend the time (not $$$) nowadays 2 help the develop there ARTist's. They've become so streamlined & so greedy for a quick buck that they're willing 2 saturate the market with McDonald's music...

Hopefully 1day soon we'll b able 2 create a MUSICAL REVOLUTION.

Sorry 4 the rant guys... smile

There are still some great artists out there doing something new and exciting... Beck and Radiohead are good examples.
