anybody remember Prince on Muppets tonight show?

Ok, let's test your knowledge and see if anyone saw Prince on The Muppets Tonight back in 1996 or 1997. This was a 90's version of the original and Prince was the guest right after Emancipation hit the shelves. I had it on VHS, but have since gone to DVD's and unfortuneately cannot regain it except in my memory. neutral He sang Starfish and Coffee (danced with a Cynthia Rose muppet), did a country type song during muppet hoo ha (hee haw send up) and sat at a white piano and sang a slow song (not sure of the title but included lyrics..she gave her angels that night in June) It was really very good and hopefully someone else will remember seeing it. I'm hoping that they release it to DVD for all to enjoy. biggrin

If you are looking for the slow song: It is called She gave her angels and can be found on the Crystal Ball cd set.
Good song indeed
(Little Richard enters the stage)
Homer: Purple Rain!!
Little Richard: Shut up!
Homer (to Marge): Oh my God, Michael Jackson just told me to shut up!

Ah yes, you do remember and you are exactly right on all of it. He did argue with the bear and called him a fool. One of the muppets even had the "butt out" jeans and Prince told him he doesn't do that anymore. Thanks for the reply.

Actually you may be thinking of the original Muppet Show and that has definetly been remastered and out on the shelves. This was the 90's version with some different characters. I'm hoping that since it's been 10+ years that it will get released soon. And it was absolutely one of the most entertaining Prince TV moments, gotta see it to believe it!

I think that if Prince ever wrote a song about that experience,
he'd probably use the term "finger puppet" as a verb.

Heck yes! I love the Muppets, so this was a dream come true! I still have it on video. Although, I have seen clips online, and it looks like they editted it a little, because a few things are missing from my tape.

OMG---that is hillarious to even TRY and imagine!!! I didn't see this. Definitly can understand the "cute in an unsettling way" vibe.

i have it.

don't hold your breath for an official release. "muppets tonnight" tanked, and only had 2 seasons. getting the original muppet show to dvd has been a ngihtmare because of liscensing issues, and it will be the same with "muppets tonight"

as unpopular as the show was, it is very unlikely the people involved will spend the immense amount of legal time and effort into putting a show noone will but on dvd.

Trickology

Pure Bonafide filler. Someone pandering desperate for attention and affection.

Probably one of the most uneventful saturated b.s. done by the Muppets and Prince. And he wasn't funny it was just tired and trite.

It never ceases to amaze me that people on here praise Prince for mediocre appearances. He isn't going to come kidnap you and take away your new power fam status if you didnt care for it.

Face it people, this show was a bad attempt at hocking a 3cd album and bad acting to boot. Remember his fake crying on Oprah? Even Oprah Pimped Prince.
