People think he does it all himself and has a band just for live performances. I will disagree with you about him performing ALL the instruments on his albums. He can, but I don't think he does. That's a public-relations claim during his first few albums. Obviously stuff like Batman and Emancipation (digital-sounding) he can do on his own, but it's pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. |

The dreamer part of me is really hoping he'll do something to surprise the fuck out of everybody. Some shock tactic done out of spite for the stupidity that was the uproar over Nipplegate and the censorship lockdown that followed.
But the realistic part of me knows he was booked because nowadays Prince is considered a "safe" act. (and isn't that just a sad, fucked up fact?) With any luck he'll whip out another stellar performance of whatever song/s he chooses and show the jocks of America that a small, effeminate male can kick some ass on guitar, and that yes, real music is still out there. Wow...Listen to the break down at the end of 'JOTY'. The bass riffs in 'Joint 2 Joint'. The instrumentation in 'The Love We Make'. Not impressed? How 'bout the piano playing in 'Let's Have a Baby'. And of course the sick SICK guitar all over the Emancipation record. And don't even get me started on the keyboard/ guitar interplay on 'Vicki Waiting'. Occupy Alphabet Street!

As for the shocking Superbowl show....I think that it will shock the hardcores that the set is so predictable. Let's go crazy>kiss>Purple Rain, anyone. I propose that instead of a normal superbowl pool, we set up squares with songs from the potential set list...It could be fun.

He'll perform an amazing show with kick ass guitar solos, an amazing band, and sensational vocals...but he'll do it wearing tennis shoes, a pair of jeans, and a 3121 hoodie from his NPG clothing line. Hey, that would shock the hell out of me. I've never seen the man without a suit or some other strange outfit on; and I've only seen one picture of him with sneakers on and one of him barefoot...he sure has pretty feet; they're soo tiny.
