Why didn't Prince ever record a song with JAMES BRown?

It just hit me today reading Entertinment Weekly that James Brown is really dead. He's been old for awhile, but he always seemed so young..

Anyway, my question is why didn't Prince ever do a song with James? He was such a big influence and I'm sure James would have loved it if Prince asked.

It's a damn shame it never came about!

He remixed a track by James Brown and Aretha Franklin for a 12" release in the late '80s (1989 if memory serves) - can't remember the title offhand, but it wasn't as good as you'd want a collaboration between three legends to be. Just a minor funk-party track, I think.

"Gimme Your Love" by Aretha Franklin & James Brown
Written by Narada Michael Walden and Jeffrey Cohen
Extended version remixed by Paisley Park
1989 Arista Records

(I'm not sure that even James Brown and Aretha Franklin met to record this song.)

I heard that Prince offered James a few songs in the mid-80s but James didn't really like them.

He may not have collaborated w/James
but "The Work" from TRC sounds like a JB jam to me.
