Dark is one of his best ballads. So much better than the Crystal Ball version in my opinion. I love the bluesy guitar at the end as well - very cool!

Papa is an absolute gem also.

LOVE the entire thing.

Real highlight for me and still on my CD player 12 years (has it been that long! eek ) later.

A dark, funky, sweatly little gem.

I love how this album has risen in the ranks for most fans since its release. It was so trashed back then.

People are seeing it for what it is now...fucking brilliant.

Was Letitgo the only commercially released single from the album? Did it have a video? Was it any good?

I have a vague recollection of Space also being released... although I could be wrong.

"Space" was the 2nd single. nod

The song "Come" had many versions as well and I believe it was planned as the 3rd single, although nothing ever came of it unfortunately.

With "Gett Off", "Cream" and "Sexy MF" all released as singles, "Come" would've fit right in.

It was the obvious choice from the album though.

It's a great song, but probably too sour for single status.

I'm not sure who ended up picking the singles in the end...WB probably had a bit more control than what Prince would've liked at this stage.

Even though I have it and have listened to it many times I sort of dismissed it abit but I recently relistened to the whole thing properly and I really like it smile

Just Letitgo and obv. the last one I'm not particularly fond of.
JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

Dark and the title track are the winners for me. Race is ok.
Not keen on the rest anymore.

No, the album is very small. Not 1 song really takes off. I was disappointed at the time.

GottaLetitgo

It's a good album, not great. Extremely dark and often unfocused but I love Dark, Letitgo, Race, and Space. The title track goes on forever, Solo is just too melodramatic for my blood, and Pheremone is wrecked by inane lyrics. You could definitely tell that some of these were sitting around in the vault and the bitter marketing campaign for the CD still leaves an aftertaste. It's a middle of the pack for me.

It's decent, but it isn't a masterpiece. I much prefer the original version of "Come" from Glam Slam Ulysses (really wish this had been released. I'd love to have had a decent recording of it), and I prefer the original album sequence that was featured on the earlier acetate.

I really like this album especially the title track. I really felt Prince was reaching inward trying to express his dissolutionment(if thats a word) and I think he brought it across well. It was like he was so focused on empty sex to take his mind off depression or angst.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I am working my way through it. It sounds like a spoiled brat acting out so far.

I checked out "Orgasm" first b/c on the liner notes he said of the partner, 'she knows who she is'. Not my favorite song.

I put a check mark by "Space" to listen again to be sure I like it.
