3121 Origin Confirmed http://www.clubplanet.com...prince.asp
The Vegas Twinz on Prince January 04, 2007 -Diana Kost When celebrities open a club, it's usually a name-only kind of thing. You'll never actually see them there. (When's the last time you caught Paris Hilton at Club Paris?) Which is what makes 3121 so shocking. Prince isn't just the owner. He's not just a name. He's a weekly performer; he is the show. The sizzle and the steak. That’s why the Rio-based club, adorned with candles, flat-screen TVs, and (of course) a library of Prince records, is the best way to catch the artist formally known as an unpronounceable character. Never without a beautiful woman on his arm (remember Carmen Electra?), Prince now has double-the-trouble with his two main backup singers and dancers, Aussie Twinz Maya and Nandy McClean. Yes, they’re talented. Yes, they’re hot. And yes, one of them even spoke to us. So how did you and Prince meet? Maya: He saw us on an audition tape. He hired us for a music video that never came about, but we starting work with him and ended up touring. Okay. The million dollar question: what is Prince really like? Maya: He’s really down to earth and has a spiritual side, as well. Plus, he has the best sense of humor. I think that’s what a lot of people don’t know. When he’s telling a story, he’ll do the voice of the people he’s talking about. It’s pretty cool. 3121 is the title of his recent album. What's the meaning behind it? Maya: It was one of his old LA homes where he used to put on performances. It’s the actual street address. And then he shifted it to another place in West Hollywood, which is where we met him. Is the club a reflection of his previous house? Maya: It’s pretty much portraying the same concept, but in Las Vegas. Like having the restaurant, 3121 Jazz Cuisine, with Lena Morgan as the chef. She was the chef at his home, as well. It’s pretty much the Prince world brought to Vegas! Aside from the ambiance--and the promotional tour--what was his main goal in opening up 3121? Maya: I think he felt Vegas was really hospitable towards to him. And he wanted to bring live, funky music back here. It’s a really great place to start off a club. A great start for his tour as well. Some people think it’s weird that he decided to open up a club and actually perform there. Maya: His last tour was the biggest selling tour and he broke all of the records so he decided he could do it. Not many people bring such an intimate feeling to the fans. The fans can come and really experience what it's like to be in Prince’s home. Do you guys go out a lot after shows? Maya: We kind of are the party, so I feel like my work is the party. I enjoy my work, and I feel like I go out every weekend because it’s my job. Doesn’t sound too shabby… If you want to party 24 hours a day, this is the place to come! So the obligatory "twin" question. Do you ever use your twinhood for evil? Say….tricking boyfriends? Maya: Everyone always gets us confused regardless. We don’t really have to do anything. Oh yeah? Maya: One of Nandy’s boyfriends tried to grab me and I was like, “Okay, I’m not the right girl,” but I kind of went along with it to see how long it would take for him to realize it. When he did he was like, “Ohhh, the wrong one!” They get all shocked and confused. It’s pretty funny. ________________________________________

apparently they don't even know the truth, LOL. the legal papers filed against P on the rental house in LA gave the address, and it wasn't 3121...in fact, the legal papers talked about him putting 3121 on the front of the house over the old (and correct) address.

forgive me if i failed to understand, but were they suggesting it was the house number on a PREVIOUS property, before he transfered the number to the one you speak of??

That's exactly what they were suggesting. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Not sure what the OP is referring to: The origin of the use of the number '3121', or the origin of the use of the number as an address?

The use of the number, of course. Based on what she said, it was a street address before it was an album title. It was probably the number on the LA house he and Mani lived in before they split. After that, he rented the house where the contest party was held. That building's actual address wasn't 3121, but he called it that to keep the theme going. Get it? Got it? Good. It's still confusing. They say he used to put on performances at his 'original' 3121 house - but that's not true, we all know the celeb-only performances only started at what acording to them would be his 'second' LA home that he rented.

Hmmm, maybe that's true I don't know. I'm surprised with all the Prince obsessives on here that no one can confirm his previous address! Just shows how when he wants to keep things secret, he can. I actually do hope it really is merely the number of an address as the lyrics of the song suggested all along, since it would be one in the eye for all those who were entirely convinced it referred to a passage in the bible or other wild theories.

And (whilst not necessarily the most reliable guide to follow on 100% every occasion), one NPGMC mod was firm in the view that '3121' was not a cryptic biblical reference. House #1 in LA: Prince abode (possibly situated at 3121 ????, LA) used as inspiration for '3121' and home to some private parties there. The idea is born. House #2 in LA: Prince relocates to another part of town, rents a property, sticks '3121' on the front gate, redecorates and photographs the place for the album of the same name, and continues the party season. Inquisitive visitors check out the street address and notice that the numbers on the front gate can be peeled off and don't fit with the adjacent house numbers. So, why does he call it '3121' if the house isn't at that number? Alternative speculation begins. . [Edited 1/9/07 12:50pm] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Aside from the ambiance--and the promotional tour--what was his main goal in opening up 3121?
It looks like we might get lucky and he'll finally go on tour at the end of March.
