When Eye Lay My Hands On U Not one to go for the popular stuff, but I think that
"When I Lay My Hands On U" is the most commercial song he's done in years. The portion of the video he released on the club site looked as if it could have used some more money dumped into it, but I think it could have been a hit with the proper promo.. Totally cool. He should revisit this one for the public. What do you think? cracknbush

Who cares if the public ever gets into him again? If U like the song, isn't that the most important factor? Personally, I
love When Eye Lay My Hands On U and The Greatest Romance, but it doesn't bother me if the general public isn't into him. Billy Joel is one of the most prolific songwriters of this century, and an excellent pianist, but how much public exposure does he get? Next to none. Is he any less great? By no means. Play what music you want to play in public. Might make a great conversation starter, and it might make someone else interested in Prince music.

I don't really care if the general public digs it or not, but those numbers would bring money for the guy. It wouldn't hurt our wallets either if he hit it big again. I guess I get tired of having to explain to people that he still releases music religiously, but the general public doesn't see it. I don't really think Prince puts out much commercial music anymore, so it seems a shame to let a good one go to waste. cracknbush

Housequake,
I think in Billy Joel's case, it is more of the fact that he hasn't put out a new album since 1993. Of course, he had his classical album last year- but since when does anyone get exposure for classical music these days?

I think that it doesn't matter at all if Prince is embraced by the public. but It does bother me that so amny people are completely unaware of his sheer genius. most people think he died after the eighties ended. Like I said, Personally I don't care if my friends praise me for liking what's in, I will like good real music, but still I think that Prince deserves to be the most popllar and recognized musician today, and he isn't. it is areal shame. One of the best songs he's released in the last few years.
Talks about making love on three levels mind, body and soul. Lyrical theme not too far removed from COME.
