But, the name.

Where did Prince get 'Carmen Electra" from?

Any stories or knowledge of that.

The name (in addition to the actress) seems to be a hit.

According to Alex Hahn's book Possessed (page 169), Prince and Carmen were watching a video of a musical called Carmen Jones. Prince said she looked like a Carmen. So there you have it. Carmen supposedly added Electra because it was the name of a Greek goddess which means amber - a type of electron with attractive qualities.

I love the names that Prince chooses.Wish he could've named me!!

Wasn't it to do with the song "The Ladder"?

I read an article about her a few years ago in some teen mag, back when our Prince was still our Artist. She said he chose Carmen because it means "song" and Electra from Freud's Electra Complex.

I here she goes with Joan Jett now.
