Which one B side, album track and unreleased song do you think had/has the best commercial appeal?

B-side?
Album track?
Unreleased song?

To answer my own question

B side-17 Days (honorable mentions to She's Always in My Hair and Erotic City)

Album track-Adore

Unreleased-Open Book

I'm sure I'll change my mind later lol

B-Side: 17 Days. Or I might say How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore only I think Alicia Keyes already took care of that one.

Album Track: Love

Unreleased: Train. Even though he gave it to Mavis I still like his version a bazillion times better.

Snap

b-side -- definitely "Erotic City" -- i've heard this song in so many different places since 1984 -- even non-Prince fans dig this one to death

album track (non-single) -- "When You Were Mine" -- would've, could've, should've

unreleased song -- "Electric Intercourse" -- most anyone who's ever heard it loves it

I definetely go for 'Erotic city'

Its both very catchy melodicwise, and also very danceable.

The song was one of the most played Prince songs in danceclubs in The Netherlands in the eighties, loved by people who arent really a Prince fan.

It also scored relatively high on recent all time top 1000's and 2000's in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Oops, thats the B-side only...

When it comes album tracks, i remember how much The Cross was played on the radio, when Sign of the Times came out. That song could have been a big hit had it been released as a single, i think. It has an anthem-like character, just as Purple Rain.
But singlewise, Sign could have done better even: IMO there have been to few singles released from this album. Slow Love, Hot Thing and Strange relationship could have scored commercially also.

And i agree with others here, When you were mine could have been a hit also. I remember it being voted nr. 1 song of the new wave era recently, that tells enough about its quality and its classic status IMO.

Unreleased tracks? a bit harder, because Prince kept his more eccentric, experimental tracks often in his vault, and not neccesarily the more commercial tracks. But if i have to go for one, it would be: Hide the Bone, downright funky and catchy, of course it has been released on Crystall Ball.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Speaking of b-sides. What about the ones that maybe had a 1 time appearance on the radio back in the day. There may have been more but I only heard them back in 84' During the P.R. days with Morris and The Time.

GRACE & TRICKY.

These are great b-side tracks from P and the boys if you can find them. Just goes to show you how fun and cool everyone was back in the day. It would be nice to see some more of this stuff come out. I bet P has a bunch of this kinda stuff on tape in his vault.
I know Prince and Morris were talking about a tour this past summer but it never happenend.

Shame.....
