Prince's Jehovah's Witnesses recruitment film

falloff I just found out, THAT was what he had in mind for Kevin Smith's footage all along...however no one wanted to edit it for him, so I guess it never got made.

There's something I'd love to see. lol

Why doesn't he just edit it himself? Didn't he do that with other prodjects??

hmmm Good question. I guess I should have said edit it WITH him. Apparently they all had ideological objections.

he probably dropped the whole thing like a hot potato after kevin smith's story on the dvd...and of course, i'm sure everyone knows he talked about it more on his second dvd, where he said the thing about the recruitment movie.

Of course I just mentioned it for maybe the one or two on the site who didn't know. I thought it was funny.

What happened was the footage proved to be useless to Prince's Idealization of what should have been said.

No.

They will care about what is right to care about.

Kevin usually tells the story about Prince wanting a Camel and not being able to get one immediately.

Until now, I've never heard anything about ideological objections.

If Prince had wanted to he could of edited himself with ease. If Prince wanted it out there it would be out there.

Also he would be the first JW I've ever known, famous or otherwise, to have made a 'recruitment' film of their own.

Now thats amazing - that no film editor in the whole world was willing to work for Prince. I didn't know film editors had such high standards.

I too have doubts about this story.

Oh pipe down.

This is straight from Kevin Smith's mouth, and this info he got from one of Prince's producers, after the first DVD. What she said was they had gone through about 4 editors and they didn't want to work on his film because they didn't agree with what he was trying to do. That's pretty much verbatim. She asked Kevin if he wanted to help edit it and he was like, "Whoa, hell no." So that's that. I guess the project was dropped.

Is it possible that Prince wanted Kevin Smith's name on there to give it more accessibility?

I dont see why Kevin got so pissed that, regardless of Prince's wierdness, he wouldnt want to be a part of it.

Prince didn't care about Kevin Smith's name, as too many others didn't really care. Kevin Smith was a flash in the pan.

Kevin got pissed because Prince is numb, and it isn't easy dealing with someone that is numb like Prince.

You need to pipe down and stop repeating crap that you can't prove and learn how to read and listen.

According to people who were at PP and interviewed for the movie it was about Prince and the Rainbow Children project not a JW film. I am sure if P wanted to find someone to work on it he could but the Rainbow Children did not exactly fly off the shevles so what would be the point now.

In addition please don't start a topic about P wanting a camel. According to Kevin P's assistant was explaining how P can be demanding of his employees and was using this as an example of an outragouse demand he might make.

She did not state that he asked for a Camel. In fact Big Chick said years ago that P would say this to express to everyone how dedicated Big Chick was to his job i.e "If I wanted a Camel in the hall Big Chick would get it done"

I only stated that Kevin Smith usually 'tells a story' about a Camel.

However, I never wrote that Kevin Smith's story about the Camel was true, only that he told it, which he blatantly has on a number of occasions.

I wrote this to illustrate that Kevin Smith has never previously said publicly that he objected to Prince's Documentary on religious grounds.

A Director not wanting to direct something he 'doesn't believe in' is illogical and contradictory in my view. Any intelligent viewer would never have considered that Prince's Documentary represented Kevin's or any other directors view just because they decided to direct it. A Director is not required to inherently believe or agree with the subjects he films.

Also I do not accept that Prince would not have been able to edit the film himself or hired others to do it for him.

A Kevin tells it all fuck-up and backwards. I just wanted to point this out as the same assitant as well as other employees have used the camel reference before as an example of his expectations from his employees.

Ok so who did you interview that they were able to tell you precisely what the intent was for the footage filmed, when Kevin, who was actually filming it didn't know himself? I think you're missing the point that this is all after the fact. And kind of an aside to the original story not part of it.

In addition please don't start a topic about P wanting a camel. According to Kevin P's assistant was explaining how P can be demanding of his employees and was using this as an example of an outragouse demand he might make.

hmmmmm.... Prince has actually asked for an animal for a music video shoot late at night, and if my memory serves it was a camel, or was it a zebra or elephant? I heard this personally asking a former employee "gofer" from paisley park for funny stories.

Maybe they were making it up.
