Oh Jake, just FYI . . . Prince frowns upon tattoos.

A lady at the One Nite Alone soundcheck in Detroit showed him her prince tattoo, and he was not impressed. He said to her "you have a Bible at home"? She said yes, and he said "Leviticus 19:28". He didn't tell her what it meant though. He wasn't mean about it, in fact he was quite nice - almost playful.

I remembered the passage, so I went home and looked it up. Leviticus 19:28 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

Just in case you ever meet him!

The cameramen at Prince shows really try to get women to show their Prince tattoos, especially if they are hidden . . .

biggrin

I've heard that story too and I really think his reaction had more to do with the fact that a complete stranger had something that's his permanently etched onto their body, rather than any genuine spiritual objection. You'll note that if he doesn't like something, no matter what it is, he's got a tendency to throw out some scripture to justify his dislike.

On the other hand, if he claims to genuinely dislike bod mods that'll be just one more thing to throw onto his ever growing pile of hypocritic proclamations. The man does, after all, have a piercing himself. And though it's just an ear -a highly mainstream piece -a mod is a mod is a mod.

That tattoo is fabulously done. My hat's off to your artist.

I'm not a huge fan of getting band name/logos though, or any pop culture pieces.

I hear ya! Cause it seems that Leviticus passage is in the context of "for the dead".....and obviously a pierced ear is cuttin' into the flesh.
But I wanted to ask about the tatooing: Didn't it hurt? Oooooh. Ouch.

And isn't CIRCUMCISION(also prescribed by Moses and going back to Abraham) cutting the flesh?????

I think what she was implying was that prince tattoos are common here on the Org. It's still a great tattoo (with this one being one of the best I've seen).

Regardless of whether you're the 1st or 1000th person to get this tattoo, it's still cool. No need to squash someone's happiness just because you've "been there/seen that".

confused

the only squashed happiness on this thread is my own. as imaginative/creative as many people are among the fan community, i'd think that people would come up with their own designs for once. something other than the symbol or variants of it.

shrug
