Guitar at the Smithsonian I've been trying to see Prince's guitar for a month or two, because my Dad said he had seen it in Smithsonian museum. The first time I went to go see it, I found out that it had been moved to another museum. So, yesterday - finally - I got to see Prince's guitar at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. I was really excited, and I kind of scared the people that were standing near it while I was taking a picture of the guitar. The quality is not the best because I took the pictures with my cell phone.

Thanks for the pics. Too bad they don't have the White Cloud to go along with that Purple Rain-era picture.
They always seem to overlook the details Still a nice exhibit though.

Prince threw it up in the air during the Revolution´s last concert....I think it was in Yokohama, final night of the Parade tour. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. True . . . but being the Smithsonian, it should've either been painted white or the picture should've been during the Diamonds & Pearls era. My point is the picture should match the guitar that's right in front of it - or they should post several pictures of Prince with different-color clouds. Probably urban legend, but I thought I heard that Prince threw the original White Cloud overboard while on a boat. Anyone hear that?

The Air and Space Museum? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I once saw a peach colored cloud guitar for sale. ...it was in Holland after the Gold Experience / Ultimate Live Experience tour in March 1995. It looked very legit but the guy wanted to sell it from the trunk of his car...that didn´t look very legit. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! Who knows though - could've been authentic but not too **cough** legal. LOL

I posted a thread on this several months ago...a friend of mine works for the Smithsonian and knows I am a huge Prince fan (she like him too). She emailed me this pics:
Shouldn’t the label read “adorned with his personal symbol” instead of “person”? I think it used to be at the Castle on the Mall, but now they have moved it to Air & Space (or maybe the Behring Center?), and added the PR era pic, and more info on the label, from what I can tell. Isn't there a Prince song playing too? . [Edited 12/31/06 11:08am] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Here's a picture of the guitar that was there instead:
