SHOULD PRINCE ATTEND JAMES BROWN'S FUNERAL?

I have a strange feeling that Prince won't show up a J.B"s funeral. Because why?,..because he's Prince and being anti-social is his thing. I hope he proves
me and a lot of others wrong. James Brown, was and important person to Prince's
career...Prince if you're out there reading this message, DO THE RIGHT THING AND
SHOW UP!! You don't even have to stay through the whole ceremony, just show your face then leave! Don't let M.J. you up.

I saw on "ET" last night that today they will reveal who a "suprise guest speaker" was in NY. That was the celebrity funeral, so you never know (until tonight).

There is a private funeral today for family in Augusta, GA.

Saturday there is a funeral for the fans in an arena in Augusta.

That's a personal decision. Can't judge the man based on whether he shows up to pay his respects or not.

Funerals are to pay respects to the living, not the deceased. James' spirit has moved on - any services held now are for the body (which really was just a vessel).

Prince will pay respect to James in his own way, be it a donation or a charity song.

I think Prince's presence might detract from the proceedings. Maybe not, but I'd hate to see the funeral become about who attended.

I understand that it's a personal decision, but Prince has always been a artist
or person that thought about himself first and only, and im not trying to bash Prince but his past track record kind of speaks for itself. My opinion is that it would show a lot of character not just to us but to the world of music and his peers if he did....." No man is a Island" he should take note of that point

He didn't show up to his parents's funeral and neither to his sister who passed away just a few months ago. I doubt he'll show up at JB's funeral. They say JW don't do funerals.

Personal decision.

Prince had a page on his website for two days with 'In restful peace, James Brown' written on it.

If he wishes to attend the funeral or walk past James' corpse at the Apollo, that is his business.

Prince has mentioned James in interviews and cited him in songs as an influence ('Gett Off). He has also performed James Brown songs live.

If he attends fair enough, if he doesn't fair enough. It is not really that important.

What was 'SST' then if not a charity song for the New Orleans disaster?

get a grip. how people mourn is an individual choice. many of us never attended our own parent's funeral for our own personal reasons. what you gonna do? pass judgement on something that has nothing to do with you?

Why does everyone act like Prince is a little kid that needs protecting from the schoolyard bully, that last time i checked in some parts of the world you have a thing called freedom of speech. Is it o.k. to saying something unpleasing to ones ears about Prince, ? or is it a crime?

Aren't we all judging him over all kind of things that have nothing to do with us? None of us know him personnally to judge him, we all speak as fans noticing petty or important details. Whatever is important to me, might not to be to others and vice versa. Instead of telling fans to get a grip, I just don't answer to their thread because they're entitled to their "freedom of speech" . What you gonna do? Pass a new law to the senate?

I don't care if he does or not. I would have been more interested in why he and many others didn't stand up or try to help James when he was in trouble. I've said on my blog that the image we got was of him with his doo messed up in a mug shot. suppossed to be funny but it's really not. Powers that be will someday get to Prince too and we'll see who his friends are.

Yes, and it IS MY OPINION that telling someone that they SHOULD attend a funeral or else it's bad is being judgemental. IT IS ALSO MY OPINION that people mourn different ways. I used the term 'get a grip' because the poster is indicating that how they mourn, or their belief on how to mourn, is the only right way, which IN MY OPINION is not right.

Whoever wants to disagree with me are more than welcome to challenge me on it.

I stood across the street from the Apollo last night for 3 hours because I couldn't get in to see the viewing..Too many people out there. Head of security told us MJ was showing up. Apparently he did because when the 2 black limos pulled up he dashed across the street in a flash over to it. They were there in front for about 10 minutes, let out 2 people, and ushered the rest inside of the limos to the back of the back of the Apollo. So was Jermaine Dupree's car. So wouldn't be surprised if it was MJ.

Tsk Tsk A funeral is not for celebrity spotting neither is it a place to have a popularity contest. Anyone that attends the funeral celebrity or otherwise should be doing this out of respect for the deceased and the deceased family not for their own publicity.

Prince will do what he wants to do, he will do what he feels to be right for him and others will do the same.
