Zappa is so my hero now.

I busted a gut when Novak and Lofton were grilling him on the "Hot for Teacher" video and he just deadpans: "I think it's amusing."

Also, how prescient were his perceptions that the country is headed toward a "fascist theocracy."

I'm not fimiliar with his music, but he really dominated that discussion. He was frank and str8 to the chase.

I think those who were always ?uestioning his fatherhood during the interview loved beating around the bush and using big words for the sake of hearing themselves yapping.

These are some hypocrite bunch.

i can not watch that on this PC but i will later on. but what i want to know is...how recent is this clip? and does sister really need to be defended? it is after all about a kid being molested by his older sister. (okay molested may be a strong word but that is how the law would see it). it is about getting out of that situation.

Lofton and Novak

Frank Zappa as always very articulate and firm about his views. I really appreciate that he defended Prince's song "Sister." I never got the impression that Prince was advocating incest. The song sounds more like Prince is purging it out of his system.

actually Frank Zappa sounds a bit punk in some bits, not completely calm and cool... reminds me of college days, arguing with roommates...

I didn't like the way the Lofton dude kept on cutting him off. He sorta came off as a chubby guy with a bad wig on blow.

All I can say, is if these guys were that upset about lyrical content then, I wonder what they think about lyrical content now.

Whateva happend to being objective? They were VERY personal when they attacked him and when they ?uestioned his fatherhood(which is abit extreme giving the fact that its based on some judgement, maybe a false one at that).

You have to give him the credit for having the balls to confront them and still maintaining his cool even after they ?uestioned his parental ability.

Some other things about the Zappa - Prince connection:

Frank Zappa once said in an interview in the late eighties that he considered Prince as a very good arranger.

Different music critics have pointed at the phrase 'serve it up, Frankie, popping up on both the Black Album and Lovesexy possibly being a reference to Frank Zappa, judging to the sometimes Zappaesque intricateness of the arrangements on Lovesexy, this might be on spot.

In my opinion Frank exercised alot of control when dealing with the wigged asshole. I remember when this debate was in progress back in the 80's and the old folks only switched to "Sister Sister" for Prince because they were laughed off of "Darling Nikki". Frank and John were battling since 85 so the animosity shown on this clip was building for almost a year. Luckily he didn't touch Frank with his pointing finger or else there might have been an ambulance called in for the "mop" pet.
