Rumor has it the MJ is planning a "comeback" by staging a show in Vegas. How will this fare against the Purple one? Also does anyone get the feeling MJ is copying Prince?

Michael Jackson Returns to Vegas

(AXcess News) New York - Pop star-in-exile, Michael Jackson, has returned to the U.S., flying into Las Vegas late Saturday night with his three children expected to arrive Christmas eve.

The 48-year-old Jackson had been living in Bahrain before moving to a castle in Ireland. Now, Jackson is rumored to be planning a Vegas comeback. But it could also be that Jackson is in Las Vegas to record his comeback album in the new Palms recording studio. Which could also mean a debut performance at the Pearl Theater expected to open in March.

So far, Palms mogul George Maloof is remaining tight-lipped about the whole Jackson thing.

Las Vegas dealmaker Jack Wishna is rumored to have been instrumental in persuading Michael Jackson to move back to the United States. Not that Jackson can't live anywhere he wants as charges over child molestation were never proven in court, though it more than clouded Jackson's career and popularity.

In the past, Vegas executives have shunned any Jackson headliners saying his murky brush with the law made him too unpopular.

Though Jackson decided to slip into the U.S. during Christmas, a relatively quiet period for the media, Christmas is over and once king of pop is making headlines again.

Can I say I am now a little interested in going to Vegas. Love me some Prince but I have never seen MJ perform. If it's good I might go...

I'd like to see both, but Michael maybe more because Prince's schedule at the 3121 club is kind of iffy. You pay for the ticket the day of the show, be there at ten, dressed to the nines and you have no idea when or IF Prince is gonna show. (Didn't P once say he didn't beleive in time?)

Michael's show's start at 8, end at 10 and you can go in jeans and tennis shoes if you want. It's more low-key. You may have to pay more, but if Michael says 8'o'clock, at 8:01, Michael is hitting the chorus of the first song.

Plus, Prince doesn't really dance anymore. I know he had a hip injury and all that, but Michael Jackson has had a broken foot, a twisted ankle and still gone on and danced. (Hell, I saw the man perform in a wheelchair once!)

It comes down to substance. I'd go see Prince because he's sexy and because he can play the hell out of guitar. But I'd go see Michael because I also think he's sexy--crucify me if you will--but also because I know for two hours Michael won't stop moving.

I'd see both. (And besides, I know MJ look alikes in Vegas that are probably foaming at the mouth that Michael is there!)

Don't the Vegas venuess have a 21+ age limit?

I rather suspect that MJ is in Vegas to buy lots more tasteless vases and trinkets and toys for his kids rather than to do anything creative. If you saw that Bashir interview, that's all he seemed to do while encamped in Vegas. I find it ridiculous to think MJ could set up a show in any reasonable time, it takes him several years and millions of pounds just to record a single album!

mike already DID vegas when he was 16-17 {they were calling him a washed up has been even then} so vegas is nothing new to mike.

i mean mj's children are named "prince".
mj asked prince to appear on his "bad" video
mj requested prince via james brown to perform on the same stage where he sang.
mj indirectly worked with prince's posse, jimmy jam & terry lewis..
and now this...

Maybe, they'll even perform 2gether!!

Michael's not obbessed with Prince. For a start Michael's son Prince is named after his grandfather who was called Prince Scruse, on his Mother Kathrine's side of the family. Do your reseach first !

In terms of Michael being obessed with Prince. It's a fact that Michael Jackson was the first major arist to play the SuperBowl back in 1993, and Prince is doing it in 2007. Also Michael played Vegas with The Jackson 5 in 1974, 3 decades before Prince.

I doubt the story of Michael Jackson in talks to play at Vegas are true. Michael just likes Vegas for holidays, and over the last few years everytime he goes visits Vegas this old story of Michael performing there appears and nothing happens.

Michael Jackson played Vegas in 1974 (3 decades pefore Prince) when he was in The Jackson 5, and he said in his autobiography Moonwalk that he didn't enjoy performing there. If Michael plays Vegas (which I doubt) he will become bored.

I think Prince has made a mistake playing Vegas, he will become bored and he should have tour Europe instead as he's been too focused on the USA as his profile is still very low in Europe which was always had a loyal Prince fan base.

I think MJ wanted Prince to like him and he would try to align himself with Prince. I tend to think MJ is a much more friendlier and outreaching person than Prince was and is.

Though I have to say him naming his kids Paris and Prince to be somewhat odd. The snake named after Madonna is very odd as well...well maybe not too much.

MJ is too old to dance for 2 hours - he will do a Madonna & dance a little & let the dancers do the majority of the dancing around him.
