When the inevitable JB tribute album comes out, which JB track should Prince cover?

Now that he's released Purple House on the Jimi Hendrix tribute Power Of Soul, and A Case Of U is about to get released again as part of a new Joni Mitchell tribute, it's not that unlikely that Prince would contribute to a JB tribute CD, with or without Maceo (probably with). Which track could you envision him playing?

Based on past concerts, I suggest two songs:
Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothin'
Sex Machine
(the 1992 Paris aftershow version of this is wonderful slow funk, and the title inspired Prince for years).

Do you agree with these choices? Any others you'd suggest?

3121

I remeber prince saying that 'licking stick' was his favourite song to jam on which he had never recorded a version of.

There's no way y'man would do Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothin'. how would it look on a poster. There r plenty that P could do and really turn his heat on them, I don't know which he should do though

I hope they get MJ to do something too!

Great choice!
Now if Lenny Krevitz would cover that, it might save his career!

Prince should do some of these songs during the NYE'show this weekend. Different ones over the 3 day weekend he's performing. Maybe he'll do it the first night of the show, anyway, I don't think Prince will let this weekend past without giving some kind of tribute to James.

Hands down for "Cold Sweat"

I love the version he did with Boni Boyer on lead vocals during his aftershows in 1988.

Maybe he should record a new version of this song with Rosie Gaines on
lead-vocals.

whilst I haven't heard the 1988 version, I'd definately suggest Cold Sweat. Prince could make that a hit again cool

I Loved his version of Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing, it wasn't an obvious choice, but a brilliant one. As for Cold Sweat, while I love the groove (I believe P is on drums) of the 1988 live version, it's basically a jam, they never play the bridge!! So it would be nice to hear a real tight version. And leave off the Purple House gimmicky effects!! Keep it raw and real!
But we've heard him attack these tunes before. I think it'd be great to hear him do one he's never tried, so I'd like to hear him do some Black Caesar numbers:

The Boss
Mama's Dead (a ballad!)
Down and Out in New York City

And whatever he does, it gots ta have some FRANKENBONE!
Take it - like Clarence said:

all different U know."

Hmm, I like those newer songs, but nothing could beat the older ones..

I always was a fan of the longer Hot Pants song,
but it also could be a slow song.

It would be nice if he re-did Hot Pants with Life O' The Party like he did during the Musicology tour. If not that, he should redo King Herion.
