Prince in drag

I decided to 'come out' of the Prince closet to my friend and admit to her how much I'm into Prince. She was cool about it and started to look at my cd's and then she was like, "Ok so he's a man in drag, right?" First I yelled "No!" and then I bursted into laughter. Then she was like, "But he's so pretty! " I don't know, I just thought that was a funny story you all would like to hear!!

That's funny, just the other day I told this girl I work with how much I'm in2 Prince's music. She looked at me and said "isn't he gay?" I said no! he's not gay, he's been married, he got married again. She said "then why does he dress like that?" I don't know, just his style I said. I was kinda stupmed.

As Prince put it...

I'd rather dress 2 make a woman stare,
I'm puttin' on somethin' that another won't dare
It's a freezer-burn compared 2 cool.

Dress like what? Prince has not worn anything,at least in public wild in about a decade.

When he was dressing wild it wasn't Boy George like drag!!!

It's astounding how a bunch of Prince fans can get bent out of shape over the IDEA that Prince might dress in drag. It shows a mentality of close-minded puritinistic stupidity. I find monicas' story funny and not in the least insulting. Prince is effeminant, this is part of his beauty. He DID dress in drag too, for those of you who never paid close enough attention. That's him on the cover of the SOTT single, not Cat (as many people assume). He looks good in that dress, (except for his thick legs. lol.) Get over it!

Tell her if she doesn't get it, then it isn't for her and stop talking to her. If a person cannot understand someone like Prince then they have a long way to go.

ThreadBare

Prince's androdgynous image/sexual obsession really is the Big White Elephant when it comes to being a fan of his, isn't it?

Previous threads have discussed how some dudes don't own up to digging his music for fear of being thought gay. I think he's a great musician, a cool performer and a really solid songwriter.

But, let's be honest: He's spent most of his career wearing women's clothes and with his face plastered with makeup. Whether out of some tribute to Little Richard, a desire to shock and gain notoriety, or to just express his inner freak, P has had some strange looks.

So, yeah, the answer to this thread's title could be: Most of the time.

I wonder if anyone questions Busta Rhymes sexuality when he comes out in some of his custom creations. Some of them are prety wacky and they are definitely something that another wont dare smile

I want you to tell me what makes you so sure. Look at the hands. Plus all the songs on that record credited to Camille. Have you ever met a guy named Camille.

Busta doesn't sing falcetto so people assume he's strait and that he's just dressing like a neo-70's pimp. hehe.

Why is it that people can't deal with Prince being the little pixie nymph of an individual that he is? Why does he have to be something else? It's amazing how easily people pass judgement based on something that he's about 75% powerless over. Prince is never going to be a 'real man', he's a vegan, he's 5 ft. tall, his voice is at best a tenor and often he could pass for a saprano. If you don't like it go buy a John Michael Montgomery record or something. geeze!

Obviously I'm blind. I'll take a look at it when I get home, but I gar-un-tee I studied it really hard at one point in time. Ya'll can believe whatever you want but...
Why does Cat have hard-core man-legs and man-hands? and why the same haircut and glasses as Prince? Why the complete lack of breasts in the halter top? Does anyone but me own that record? lol. you just assume it's Cat cause that's what you were told.

What does singing falsetto has to do with anything. I madea similar post in a another thread about the style of falsetto. You see you obviously do not know anything about the history and roots of my culture or black music ,r&b or black gospel music. You would know that the style of falsetto singing was and is immensely popular in the history and of black music.

That is NOT Prince on the cover of S.O.T.T. Cat in an interview on BET a long time ago with Brooks said so herself.

FYI-Prince has never dressed in drag, but if he did I bet he would be one beautiful woman.

Naw, Prince would NEVER dress in drag. I mean, lace pants, high heels, garter belt once in a while. . .eyeliner and glitter in his hair. . .but drag? Never. If he did that, people might think he was gay. And you know, that's just wrong. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

While I'm at it, why don't all you obsessed orgers talk about the MUSIC once in awhile, it's all about the MUSIC, and why are you so rude and crude, and why don't you all go get a life. Prince is a bastard anyway, he once looked at me like he didn't like me, I could tell. Michael Jackson would never do that.

I'd say that Prince has been dressin' in drag for years... probally 'cause the only place (besides the boy's section) that he could find clothes that fit was in the women's section.

Haven't heard anything about Busta Rhymes but I know that Andre 3000 from Outkast gets a lot of shit for his choice in clothes. He even addressed the rumors in one of their songs.

OH LAWD!!! You don't REALLY believe that SOTT photo is Prince,do you? IT IS CAT! For one thing, that person has long legs and is obviously a very tall person. But don't feel bad...Prince's own father(!) mistakenly thought it was him, too:)

I obviously don't know what the fuck you're talking about. I wasn't talking about your culture, or balck music, or any of that. I was talking about common popular oppinion and general understanding which in the country is mostly puritanical and white-bred. To a normal white american a little black man in make-up who sings in a high voice is a drag-queen of some sort. That's all I said. I didn't say I agreed with that mentality and I didn't say anything about history or culture so I don't know what that's all about, sorry.
