Curious to the general hardcoreness of fans here. Indicate how much of Prince's recorded music you have heard approximately. (You may include bootleg songs, official live releases, and don't forget his jazz stuff).

Myself, I am thinking 87%, have not heard all Madhouse I think, Disc 3 of One Night Alone, and a few odd bootlegs, though I imagine I have heard most.

Don't think too hard about this Q, make your head spin circles, like a Parade record on the turntable.

unless you include all the paisley park protegees and stuff that he collaborated on, in which case there are a few stragglers around the end of paisley park record's existence i haven't heard, like dale bozzio and good question.

oh, i still haven't heard the happy feet song. so there's one song i haven't heard by prince.

Probably 95% of it.


Though I only listen to the first 15 seconds of a song now to determine whether I'll listen to the rest of it. I skip at least 80% of stuff I've heard after 15 seconds or so.

I would give you a solid 99.6%. I would exclude all the prince related artists (though I guess he did participate in much of the music. I would include collaborations like Love Song with Madonna, and Expectation.

Official stuff: 99% (including albums, singles, protege albums and singles, and one-off contribution stuff)

The only stuff I haven't heard is some rare protege remixes, but even then, Prince's involvement is questionable in some cases.

Studio Bootlegs: Too hard to tell. Just when you think you've heard it all, something new pops up.

Live Bootlges: As far as circulating stuff, I've probably heard about 70-80% of it (and that is a SHIT LOAD when you consider Prince probably plays about 50 shows a year on average, of which half of it is circulating!). All the "main" ones I've heard (eg. Musicology LA, 4 Those Of U On Vallium, Tokyo 1990 etc.)
