E! Gossip; Prince Is All Work, No Pay

Prince Is All Work but No Pay

Move over, Oprah. Someone is moving in on your charity work.

Okay, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but Prince has apparently asked that any money made from "The Song of the Heart," his Golden Globe-nominated song on the Happy Feet soundtrack, go to charity.

Not only has he told Warner Bros. to donate his fee, he's even insisted that royalties on the record be given away, too. "It was just all about him being able to do it and giving back to the world," a source reports.

Prince was so inspired after watching the movie, I'm told, that he wrote the song in two days.

Obviously, Prince no longer has hard feelings toward Warner Bros. He famously changed his named to a symbol—and was thus called "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince"—in 1993 because of contractual disputes with the company's music label. At the time, Prince protested by appearing in public with the word slave scrawled on his face.

That's cool...I wonder what charity he has chosen and if it is something related to enviromental protection. The movie had an strong global warming message to it.

Including this part?

Since you've just put the kibosh on the whole "RS guy on Today says new Prince album and tour 2 days after Superbowl" thing in another thread, it would be nice to know there might be a possibility for Prince and WB to work together sometime in the future.

I was moreso speaking of the proceeds being given 2 a charity. It seems 2 me that the writer was stating opinion more than fact.

1 would hope Warners would come 2 an agreement with him because the funk that is on "Sign O The Times" and countless other works of his creation need a remastering just as bad as Britney needed some new knickers 4 the new year.

the cost of doin business in africa like most third world countries is very little

its when most of the money is endin up for managin the project rather then benefitin the ppl

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

This just looks to me like Prince's way of saying he doesn't need WB's blood money. "Yeah, sure, I'll toss off a song for your penguin movie, I got a million of 'em...all different, too. Keep the change, bitchez. Owwah, etc."

I mean, it's nice of him to give the proceeds to charity, sure - but the whole thing reads to me like another example of Prince being badass.
