He's tried, multiple times. He even had a video shot of a parody for WDC but Prince wouldn't allow it. I was actually watching the new DVD version of UHF that just came out and Al mentions Prince in the audio commentary. He says that rather than Money For Nothing they had hoped to do the Beverly Hillbillies parody with Let's Go Crazy, but, he says, "Prince has never been a fan." lol.

He already has a great sense of humour.

I have a tape of a 'Lovesexy' tour rehearsal where Prince actually namechecks Weird Al Yankovic. Prince announced to Bomi Boyer, Sheila E and Levi Seacer Jr. that, while he hated Yankovic's parody of "Beat It" ("man that was just stupid..."), he had actually found the video-clip of "Fat" very funny indeed.

Worth getting also for the 'Lovesexy' band's performance of James Brown's 'The Payback'.

I don't doubt it. But he should have let Weird Al do the parodies that PrincPDC mentioned. Those would have been great sigh

Which makes sense, since he saw 'eat it' back in 1983 and Al wanted to do WDC in 1984/85, and Prince opted not to sing with MJ on Bad so he probably thought it a stich that Al burned him. That doesn't make him a fan exactally. Besides, Fat was funny. "Ding-Dong Yo! Ding-Dong!" I still use that when I answer the phone.

i remember seeing a short documentary on Weird Al on WH1 in '95 saying Prince is the only artist who wouldn't let him parody his songs, adding that Prince takes his music very seriously and Al was ok with that.

Yankovic has never covered Prince but when he hosted MTV (it was called 'Al TV') he did a bit where he sat in a bathtub with his shirt off and a scarf around his neck ala 'When Doves Cry'. Then he slowly stood up out of the tub and stretched his hand out toward the camera.

It was hilarious.
