The music industry has changed, such that it's all the producer these days, as far as today's artists.

They might sing (although they don't even have to do it on key these days, cuz a tuning machine will fix that), and they might dance, and they might be pretty to look at, but it's all substance.

Whereas Prince comes from the generation where freedom and rebellion were ultimately important. And let me get something straight: Britney's (and her ilk) escapades are not freedom and rebellion - they're "look at me, I'm a spoiled teen idol."
