Home Made 3CD Xmas Pressie I posted an essential prince tracklist here about a month ago but after much deliberation these are the tracks I've decided to include on a home made set intended as an xmas pressie for someone who likes Prince a little bit.
I've followed the following criteria: 1. No songs with the F word or worse, she wouldn't like that and mabye it'll even get Prince approval now. So no Erotic City unfortunately. 2. No track can be longer than Purple Rain which is long enough at 8.40. Non fans don't tend to go for anything extended too long i.e. A Love Bizarre album version. 3. Each disk has to be drawn from tracks released within it's specific period. i.e 81-85, 86-92 & 93/94 onwards. That means you can't have Kiss on one CD and Girls and Boys on the next for example. Here's the Tracklisting: ESSENTIAL PRINCE 1981-1985 Let’s Work (Dance Remix / Long Version) (8:02) 1999 (Album Version) (6:22) Little Red Corvette (Dance Mix) (8:00) When Doves Cry (Album Version) (5:52) 17 Days (3:54) The Beautiful Ones (5:15) I Would Die 4 U (Album Version) (2:51) Baby I’m A Star (4:20) Purple Rain (8:45) Let’s Go Crazy (Special Dance Mix) (7:35) Raspberry Beret (Extended Version) (6:33) She’s Always In My Hair (Extended Version) (6:30) A Love Bizarre (Single Edit) (3:48) 77:47 1986-1992 Kiss (Extended Version) (7:16) Girls & Boys (5:30) Sign O´ The Times (Album Version) (5:02) Housequake (4:38) The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker (4:04) Starfish & Coffee (1:07) Forever In My Life (3:38) If I Was Your Girlfriend (Album Version) (4:54) I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Album Version) (6:31) Adore (6:29) U Got The Look (Long Look) (6:45) Alphabet St. (5:38) Gett Off (Urge Single Edit) (4:24) Cream (4:12) Sexy Mutha (3:55) 7 (Acoustic Version) (3:54) 77:57 1994-2006 Love Sign (Nona Gaye & ) (4:31) Shhh (7:18) Dolphin (4:59) The Holy River (6:55) Movie Star (4:25) Da Bang (3:19) Calhoun Square (4:46) What’s My Name (3:03) Crucial (5:05) Comeback (1:59) Wasted Kisses (2:58) [hidden track] Eye love U But Eye Don’t Trust U Anymore (featuring Ani DiFranco) (3:33) Beautiful Strange (4:55) Here On Earth (3:22) Avalanche (4:24) Pearls B4 The Swine (3:00) Empty Room (4:01) The Word (4:12) 76:25

So, you can't include anything with the F word in it, but you put on a song that talks about him kissing her down there where it counts? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Nice List. Though nothing prior to Controversy? Christian Zombie Vampires

I'd ditch the whole third disc in exchange for adding another disc of earlier stuff and pre-Controversy.

You said no F words, so is that the edited version of Sexy Mutha? I'd get rid of that if it is. I know I'd rather not even hear the song than listen to Prince going Sexy Mutha !

I did consider putting in the edited version of Girlfriend but I don't think it stands out as much as a good old F so I passed it. I even considered outing Housequake too. Sexy Mutha is good fun I reckon. I think that and the Urge mix of Gett Off go well together and they are both less riskee than their original incarnations. Izten don't like movie star and Vinay don't like Dolphin but there should be something for everyone on there. I usen't like Dolphin either actually, or 7. Had to listen to Do U Lie? about 5 times in a row before I decided it didn't make the cut. Same goes for Joy in Repetition. I was starting to prefer We Can Funk at the end of that listening session. Oh the joys of being stuck in traffic.

Hell to the Naw! Thats boring! If you do anything to that third disc, add: I Hate U Space and remove: Movie Star, and Avalanche (your friend might not be ready for these) If you will, so will I
