Listening to the remix of 'I would Die 4u' really does make you realise how dated his skills have been for years in creating top notch dance music.At his peak into the late 80's his sound was very fresh and gave you no option to dance BUT age has put him behind the game. Q] which tracks would you like to see given a fresh new mix.
Personally i'd love to hear FAT BOY SLIM do a mix of Housequake and Black Sweat.

To be fair, the "remixed" version of "I Would Die 4 U" really isn't a remix -- it's an extended live performance jam. In my book, all of Prince's remixes were pretty damn good up until I heard a couple of those "Thieves In The Temple" remixes (by Junior Vasquez, I believe?) -- and no, I'm not talking about the extended version. From that point on, things changed. "Vogue" style music became popular in the clubs, and I guess you havta give people what they want, or d'ya? Personally, I'd love to hear some more '80s-styled remixes done to Prince's music -- not fan "Purple Medley" type remixes, either. But times have changed and we must move on, I s'pose.

There are some decent house remixes of Prince songs that were remixed in the 1990s, such as.....

However, when people remix things these days, they slow the tempo down and add some weak shit hop drum machines behind them. House remixes were fine because house drum machines are strong sounding like Prince's drum machines were. Shit hop, on the other hand, has weak drum machines that ruin the sound of the whole song.

There is a boot called Purpleletricity, which is a collection of remixes. does anyone know if its all house/techno remixes, or other genres as well? I know Basement Jaxx did a remix on it.

it's funny but club mixes and the typical dance music genre has never ever made me feel the beat or associate it with dancing... it's so generic for the most part, and seems to have no push or pull, just a vacuum overlaid with an even beat that creates no urge in me to even tap my toe!

I HATED whenever Prince brought in someone like Junior Vasquez to remix, it killed the groove and drama of the songs!

I think a remix of Housequake could be horrible, and the existing remix on the Razormaid label is awful. It shows how Prince's talent of putting sounds together to form a new powerful sound is completely out of the realm of ability for others (even with all the same intrument tracks).

I've listened to the entire new Beck album and still, there is not a single combination of sounds on there that makes a groove as strong as the cut "3121", so I'm not sure if Beck could do better than Prince!

Go back a few years and compare "Que Onda Guero?" to "Come On". A very similar musical/groove idea, but Prince's is so much stronger and potent.

One remarkable (nonprince) track that I remember from a years ago that really seemed to create a stir and crossed over from the rap to the dance crowd was Southern Hospitality. You played that at a party, and everyone started dancing. People I knew that only listened to techno loved that track because of it's "techno" noises.

PS there are some bootleg Prince tracks that have dance remixes that were done by Prince and his camp. Of the top of my head I remember:
