Some nice man has posted the Debut 1983 performance at First Ave. of Purple Rain on YouTube this is the one where the vocals where used for the album just before the film was made very Rare. also Lets go crazy, Computer blue i would die 4 u, Baby i'm a star, Electric intercourse,Little red corvette etc. Prince looks cool and is only 24 going on 25 Amazing. just type in Purple Rain 1983 and enjoy!!

he sounds phenomenal here doesn't he? And I though from "Live" that he hadn't matured as a singer yet, this live footage proves me wrong. Perhaps because of nerves or the new bigness of purple rain, his voice on "live" is often off key and weak.

Thanks for that, enjoyed the clip of Purple Rain and then watched DMSR and Automatic! He sounded and looking awesome!

By Purple Rain, he was a pure vehicle of the zeitgeist, articulating in sound, lyric, and image his romance/heartbreak/end of the world/rebirth message.

He's tapped that well too many times since, as the formula has worn thin, but when he first mined that territory it was something to behold.

And this is why he's going to have to do PR at the Super Bowl. How can he resist having 100,000 people singin' the "ooooh"s at the end?

I used to work with someone who was actually there. He hadn't heard of Prince, but his friend had told him that he had to come and see this guy down at First Avenue. My coworker said that he was shocked at what he was wearing, but it was a really good show.

it's really juvenile for this forum to delete such great music, and if it's prince behind it then he's juvenile too. He is a public figure and he has worked hard to be a great entertainer, not to many in his field would be so senselessly controlling of his music. I doubt if Bruce Springsteen would attempt to have the vids of him pulled. As ardent fans, we need and love this stuff it's not like we're seeing something unflattering or bad for his image. It's simply the many doing what he does best. Well, at any rate, I got to see most every single clip. Fantastic. Grow up Prince and grow up moderators.
