Did anyone hear 'Lisa's parade' before it was 'christopher tracys parade' ?
It was orginally a lisa song but anyone know what Prince changed? Also 'Around the world in a day' was one of w &l's brothers songs by the same name; anyone know what Prince did to that? Any info would be appreciated, thanks

There is a boot of it circulating, it just sounds like a demo for the released song. ATWIAD was Prince's rendition of a song written and demoed by David Coleman. No idea what was changed or added though.

yep, it's no demo, it's the final version, and then they changed the lyric to fit the movie. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Also 'Around the world in a day' was one of w &l's brothers songs by the same name; anyone know what Prince did to that? Any info would be appreciated, thanks The original demo recorded by David Colemand featured him on drums, bass and 12 string guitar. David Coleman thought Susannah Melvoin might have played keyboards. Background vocals were: David Coleman, Colynda Coleman, Susannah Melvoin, Jonathan Melvoin and possibly Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. The lyrics are reported as very different. The middle eastern instrumentation was added during Prince's recording of the song. David Coleman gave an account in Uptown - issue #48 http://www.uptown.se/2005...wiad.shtml . [Edited 12/13/06 15:10pm] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

There are two differences that I can tell:
The title and the following lyric: "Little girl Wendy's guitar" became "Christopher Tracy's piano".

The middle eastern instrumentation was added during Prince's recording of the song. That's weird. I didn't think Susannah played any instruments. And I was just looking at Wendy's entry on Wikipedia and it said sh eis the singer of "guitarist and songwriter" Susannah Melvoin..... although Susannah's own entry says vocalist, songwriter and actress. Also, I thought David was the one who put the whole Middle Eastern vibe on it, which would make more sense given the story.

He did. The middle eastern instrumentation wasn't on David's originaal demo. However, David was involved in the Prince re-recording on which he played darbouka. He was responsible also for adding cello, oud and finger cymbals. Other imstrumentation was recorded but left unused. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
