What happened with the sound of Parade?

This album is sublime but sounds so flat. The drumming is amazing but the sound does hit at all.

Prince released in 79 sounds waaay better and so does all the other 80's releases.

Anyone know? Was it the equipment? Was it recorded too low?

IMAGINE A REMASTERED PARADE DONE BY SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CARES FOR THE MUSIC! HEAVEN!

I would imagine he planned it out this way. Around the world in a day was wide open and surreal sound. Parade was the opposite. He's done it before.

No, he planned to make it sound the way it sounds-- which is a very cool sound. I love the sound of PARADE-- it is sparse-sounding, yet there is so much going on musically. It is a real marvel, and a gem. I love it.

If you're referring 2 the CD, it sounds awful.

The vinyl album sounds great.

I've read long time ago in french "rock & Folk" magazine that Parade was the only album Prince truly dislike in his career...

...and I was very surprised cause I think the sound of it is quite better than... sign of the times that just follows (it has no link with the qualities of the songs, just the sound...)

Maybe there's a big difference between CD and vinyl, I've never had the opportunity 2 listen 2 them in vinyl...

Anyone heard about him disliking Parade ?

yes he said he didn't have enough quality material.
I think he meant material he made himself as opposed to collaborations with the revolution.

There is a HUGE difference between the original vinyl releases and the lousy CD transfers they did. Just compare them. Also compare the original vinyl of 'Sign O' The Times' 2 the CD version.

This is why so many wish for the original albums 2 be remastered properly, and re-issued on CD.
