anybody wonder why Prince has not said anything about the show American Idol (british show USA made it's own version of where kids compete to get a huge record deal) The show is a sensation here! It's broken all types of viewing records. You think Prince thinks that his advice about big recording deals have gone to deaf ears? I think he is frustrated that no one listens.

If he's frustrated I doubt American Idol has anything to do with it, considering it seems to be just another Star Search. I've been hearing about the show but haven't felt the need to watch it so far. It's possible he doesn't care.

supanova, I think ur wrong. If you haven't seen the show u wouldn't understand. Star search never offered huge recording deals and asked their talent to sign their lives away... This show is HUGE unlike previous shows like the one who created O-town and Eden's Crush who are totally retarded kids with NO talent. 4 of the kids are brilliant Tamyra, Kelly Ryan Starr, & Justin. they have potential to as big as mariah, Gwen, maxwell and shania twain

Nothing wrong with a major lable deal - if that's what someone wants to pursue.

Like all those who have dreams of stardom in the music business; they're in for some rude awakenings ahead. That's not to say some won't be successful. But most never take into account the bigger picture.

that's the thing though, even the ones are getting booted are getting record deals lol I think he would have something to say about the talent at least... specially since justin has adapted that neo-soul prince/lenny/maxwell vibe

The show sucks and it's probably all set up. I doubt ANY of them will get far. I'm sick of the commercials and I'm sick of looking at that Justin kid's stupid head.

Tamayra was booted off last week (she can sing but from her performances she's limited to R&B and gospel)

Ryan Starr was booted off four weeks ago (and her talent was looking like actress Liv Tyler)

Those shows are a real plague, it started in europe (the second "season" just started yesterday in France) & now it's in the USA.
Major companies are so afraid to waste money that they now promote an artist BEFORE the record is done, and give to the masses what they want (or what they think they want).

It's no surprise, many young & older "true" artists try to make their own label now, cuz major record companies are no longer a place where they're welcome.
