He kidded around about that once. But I bet if he really tried it it could be the most interesting thing he's done in years. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

But I bet if he really tried it it could be the most interesting thing he's done in years. if he took it seriously and approached it as a folk/acoustic/bluegrass or mountain music kinda trip. not if he was going for the whole shania twain/brad paisley kind of faux country that just sounds like soft pop american idol BS anyway. he could make an album that sounds like one of joni's early records and easily call it a "country" record, and it would be more genuine than what's on the C&W charts now.

It'd be a tough transition, there's such a division between country and all the other genres he's fiddled around with -at least in a lot of people's minds. Certainly in terms of the buying public. But I'd love to see him try. Maybe all he needs is a fresh challenge. Something to try that's not guaranteed to be a walk in the park for him, that he's not guaranteed to succeed at. Country with a Princely twist could be really fun. [Edited 12/9/06 12:30pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
