Let's ask them to sell albums at NPGMC Retail In some ways, I don't want the DOW single to be such a success - rather than pay $5 + $6.50 (shipping) for a one-song single, I'd rather pay $18 + $6.50 (shipping) for otherwise-unavailable ALBUMS through the site - God knows most of us would buy them, even if we're already premium members...
Think of it: Vault albums, albums which don't 'fit' elsewhere... Very little packaging needed. Let's ask...

I agree, it's a great idea, but i think of it this way:
The npgmc is not their own CD pressing plant(not yet at least) and if something like a new Vault album went up for sale on their site, they'd have 5,000-10,000 members ordering the CD- plus an additional 10,000+ non-members, all at once. I'm thinking they have their hands full with the current club mailings as it is. Plus, they likely have to contract out to press all their CD's, packaging, mass mailings, etc. Imagine them trying to get CD's mailed to members AND then get vault orders out, too. -I would think Prince understands the demand for his music-both new and old, from all the bootlegs that are bought and sold. Someone wrote here recently that he was the 2nd most bootlegged artist ever. He's got to have his own CD pressing equipment to be able to keep up with that kind of demand. But down the road, it sounds like a great idea to me.

Plus the advantage that he has with everyone signing up (NPGMC members) is that he knows exactley how many cd's he needs to press. Thus he's not waisting any money in guessing how many to make. But it's a really good idea for the future.

Other musicians have been selling their CDs online for several years now. I'm sure Prince could handle it if he wanted to do it.
To be honest, I would rather he just release his CD's via the site and give us the option to purchase them when they are ready. I wish he would drop all this $100/year membership stuff.

Prince is in control of the club: there4 it is definitely a reflection of leadership so don´t blame it on the peeps working 4 him.. it seems that information is given 2 them on a need 2 know basis.
And eye guess that Prince will never sell CDs with the WB logo on it. In order 2 sell his backcatalogue he needs the masters or re-record them (he said he did that, though) or throw in the white flag, which ofcourse will not happen any time soon... As 4 vault albums, well Prince is not going 2 release them without having 2 do some re-production... currently that isn´t his agenda but ours. hey, does Crystal Ball II ring a bell?
