No and Yes. He should allow someone with the skill to do a real documentary.

With mini"documentaries" used as marketing tools and with so much reality tv out there, we're now almost over saturated. Still I'd love to see a real documentary. A good one. Shot on film. In the theatre.

I'd also like to see a film. This came up a couple of weeks ago in a 2 person thread that breezed thru here. No one else was interested. BTW, Fruit, how about Mos Def as the voice of morality, Pickering ? He can be funny in a drama without being slapstick.

So, yes. If it's the right film.

Albert Magnoli? Anyway, I say no. Only Martin Scorsese could have a hope in hell of getting a decent performance out of Prince. He's just not an actor.

How about releasing that damn Kevin Smith documentary already?

Whatever Magnoli bought out of him the first time, worked. People seem to like the awkward Prince. His recent acceptance speech is proof of this. That balanced with strong music/performance, works for him.

About that Kevin Smith doc, I can't imagine it being more entertaining than Kevin's account of it. I suspect only diehard Prince fans would be interested. Perhaps Kevin's diehards would check it out too, but for entirely different reasons.

I think a sequel to Purple Rain could be good, a real sequel tho without the weirdness of Graffiti brigde. Maybe the story could revolve around Prince teaching someone who is like he was in Purple Rain, and it would obviously have to feature the time. It wont happen but it would be good!

Maybe it could also feature Rocky Balboa.

I still wanna see a Revenge of the Sith-esque tale starring Prince as the Anakin Skywalker type character, and Larry Graham as the Palpatine role.

That'd be awesome.

Prince performs for his fans in an intimate club

Larry: Gooood, Prince, good! Hahaha....Judge them. Judge them now.

Prince (looking conflicted): ...I shouldn't.

Larry (in deeper voice): Do it!

After struggling with it, Prince starts telling the fans about God and why they should never swear.

Larry: You did well, Prince. They were too sinful to be left unjudged.

Prince: Yes, but they were free spirits. I shouldn't have done it. It's not the Uptown way.

Larry: It is only natural. They criticized you in the past, and you wanted to preach. It wasn't the first time. Remember what you told me about your old band...and the lesbians?

And you could have Prince and Mayte as the Anakin and Padme types.

Mayte: Wendy and Lisa have been saying terrible things.

Prince: What things?

Mayte: That you...became a JW. That you...go door to door!

Prince: ...Wendy and Lisa are trying to turn you against me.

Mayte: Prince, all I want is your love.

Prince: Love won't save you, Mayte. Only my new dogma can do that.

Mayte: At what cost? You're a free spirit, don't do this!

Prince: I won't lose you like I lost Susannah. I am becoming more preachy than any artist has ever dreamed of. And I'm doing it for you. To protect you.

Mayte: Come away with me! Help us save your music while there's still time!

Prince: Don't you see? We don't have to record that kind of music anymore. I have brought enlightenment to the masses. I-I am more preachy than Brother Larry. I can overthrow him! Then you and I can preach to the galaxy! Make people the way we want them to be!

How about a serious, non-Prince-directed or produced, musical based on Robert Johnson or something similar to what Outkast did with "Idlewild" or even a Toni Morrison ("Beloved") or Alice Walker ("Color Purple") story?

I would like to see him play a mature role, not comedic, that showcases his musical ability and acting in ways we have not seen before, especially it it involves acoustic guitar.

After all, I think we are all waiting to see The Dawn....

Prince should have learned his lesson in the 80's when it comes to acting. I pray to God he will never do another film unless it involves himself and Johnny Depp butt naked in a motel room with a bottle of Hershey's chocolate.

I like this idea, a lot. He'd probably do well playing someone other than himself...especially if it's a period piece.
Only thing, unless it's sci-fi, it should stay true to it's period. No mixing the centuries stuff.

AND...at some point it should be set in the po south. This way we get the barefoot overalls action.

Good call.
