I hate "Emancipation"...

...is what I said the first time I heard the album. However, on repeated listens I could see it does have some merit. I don't own it now, do u think I'm really missing out on much without it? I'm so wary of the 90s material. Right now I don't have "Come", "Symbol", "Emancipation", "Graffiti Bridge". Should I bother getting these?

Oh yeah, and did Prince really say he wanted to tour for years on the back of "Emancipation" and release many singles to promote the album and the tour?

And do u like my avatar? It's not actually me in the picture. But it is my yak.

pray

Prince always says things & then not do them. He's really good at that.

First of all: The "Love-Symbol" album is a must have...

The Come album is up to you, but I like it...

Graffiti Bridge as whole, might not be a great album. It has some beautiful moments though: Q of U, Joy in Rep...

Emancipation: I strongly suggest you buy this album. If you're one of those people that don't like a song because, you don't sgree with whom it is directed to and shit like that, then don't bother. Yet, if you enjoy good music, funky, R&B, Slow Love Ballads; then it's a good album.

It's very seldom, that I say I outright dislike anything Prince writes. I often find the 'good' in almost every song he writes, and it overshadows, what may be bad about the song...so my dvice is often questionable mr.green

I think Emancipation is great. not one of my faves necessarily, but it is great. Graffiti Bridge is one of my faves. it took me a while to really like it, but it is a great album. the symbol album is an absolute must have.

as the blue prince said, Come is up to you. it is a little strange. but it's got like a couple of good songs on it. the song Dark is incredible.

Oh I like smile All of them are MUST HAVE without exception, wht are you talking about man??

O+>: 'The morning paper' which is my fave cut, Damn U my Cafe's fave cut along side with UTCM. Its a good LP,,

Emancipation-I LUV this motha. Joint 2 Joint and sex in the summer. Man, the 2nd CD is the highlight of that LP.

Come- No offence, but you're a FOOL 4 not having that LP. If you like moody music then that is yo thang. Basicaly, its the EDGIEST/DARKEST LP from the 90's. Get yo ass up and BUY it,,

Graffiti Bridge-If you're one of them fools who ddin't like that LP becoz of the movie then I'm telling you right now 'Don't bother'. Personaly, I think its a DOPE LP. 'Graffiti Bridge' is the best ballad in there along side with that masterpiece 'The Q of U' aka UTCM's sistah lol. My fave uptempos are 'We can funk' with G.Clinton and 'can't stop this feeling I got'. Go get it,,

Sorry I didn't write that long review becoz I'm in a rush lol

"Come" and the "Symbol" album are absolute freaking must haves.
I do feel you on this, bkk, because I didn't even buy "Come" until a few years ago. I kick myself now. (ow.) It contains what are easily some of his best songs ever. I would pay the regular CD price just for the title track, the funkiest 13-or-so-minutes of your life.
"Symbol" also has true gems. Particularly if you like "operatic Prince." 3 Chains O' Gold, And God Created Woman, The Sacrifice of Victor...ooohhh, I shudder (mmm.)
You didn't mention the Gold Experience, but since we're talking about 90's material, go get that too! I don't know if you liked "I Hate U" but it rocks me. Dolphin and Billy Jack Bitch are also standouts.
Emancipation, on the other hand...eh. It's up to you. I don't love it to death, but if you can get a used copy cheap, there are definitely good songs on it. I mean, it's Prince for chrissakes!
