Best Prince CD and record to show off Stereo If I were to brag about the sound quality of my playing devices and were to use one Prince record and/or one Prince CD, which should they be?
For the record, I think I would go with Sign O the Times, full rich sound, sonically sharp and interesting.Honorable mentions to Purple Rain ,ATWIAD and Prince. (particular the chicken scratch guitar On Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad. For the CD, I think the Truth, voice and acoustic guitar sound great bouncing out of speakers. Ok , maybe bouncing is not the correct word, but this sounds awesome. I like the ONA piano better for the music, but the Truth sounds just terrific. For cassette, Maybe Diry Mind. Any P music ever released on 8 track? Perhaps For You, I have no idea when that phased out. Best headphones Prince music, likely 1999. Any opinions or thoughts merf

The Gold Experience
Turn that shit up really loud. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

This is a joke, right?
[Snip - luv4u] All prince albums from 78-89 sound really bad. The Prince album is the best of this bunch. 1999 is one of the worst sounding cds i have out of about 3000. The recording of this album is a travesty becuase the arrangemnets and music are amazing. GB, Come and D & P are the best sounding Prince albums. Come is probably the best; it's mixed and mastered very well and puts TRC, TGE, 3121, Musicology and rave to shame! TGE is horribly mastered; so is everything from that point on. Around 1995 the industry made a turn for the worst and Prince albums had the compression 'treatment'. 3121 is horrific. The better the system the more you will notice how poorly recorded and mastered Prince albums are. The recording and mastering of the album is waaaaay more important than the system.

In 1986 Streo Review magazine rated Parade a perfect 10 for sound quality and that still stands up today. Could you imagine how amazing it would sound if Prince re-mastered it?? "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

I WISH STEVE HOFFMAN WOULD REMASTER EVERY PRINCE CD! He is the master! HE DID SOME OF BOWIE'S STUFF! http://www.stevehoffman.t...ay.php?f=2 Remastering can actually make things worse so an expert is required

I actually did go into a proper hifi shop to purchase my system and took with me a Prince cd for a track that for me would need top quality amp and speakers to truly hear every note.....the track for me out of all the Prince cd's that i have (and i have them all) was ...."When the lights go out" from The Vault.
A truly brilliant piece of music that needs a quality stereo to do it justice.

the drums for christopher tracy's parade,i wonder u, new positon and do you lie sound auful in my opinion(sound like he's drumming on a tuperware box,i'd pick sign of the times over parade anyday, like the drum effect going from right to left on starfish and cofee sounds great. Like a Gb Major with a E in the bass

Without a doubt, the Remastered Edition of Parade (Music from the Motion Picture Under the Cherry Moon) is what you need to show people what your sound system is made of. The lush Claire Fischer orchestrations, the insane percussion workouts, the kickin' brass by Eric Leeds and Atlanta bliss, the poppin' funk guitar, the piano lines tender as a snowflake, this album does it all. It's a sonic masterpiece, it's an odyssey of musical expression, it's by turns the most fragile and muscular piece of aural bliss, it's...
what? oh, yeah. ...forget I said anything.

During the Paisley Park tour in 2004 - I found it weird that the engineers on hand to show us the sound in Studio B (i believe it was) repeatedly played the first minute or so of Theives In the Temple.. The Graffiti Bridge disc holder was on the table.. just seemed odd, they only played that one track.
