Prince, fabulous homosexuals, scary Goth Queens calling the Ghost of Souxie Sue, and the other half

I’ve been to a few Prince concerts in my life. One thing that I’ve noticed at the shows is that 50% of the audience seems to be made up of handsome gay men, and extremely fine yet equally slutty looking women. I mean, it literally looks like a Versace fashion show in some respects, minus a few heroin addicts of course. I’ve never seen a crowd of so much spectacular display of hair products, perfume, and silicon.

But the most remarkable thing about the audience is the other 50% of the folks who show up. I’ve never seen so much diversity at any other concert (I’m sure Madonna may have the same type of crowd I guess). There are normal folks, there are geeks, there are senior citizens, there are children, there are families, and the list goes on and on. I once looked behind me and saw a guy resembling Grisley Adams , you know the dude that looked more likely to fuck a bear than a woman, standing beside what can only be described as the cast of the Adams Family (or was it the Osbourns?).

And the most intriguing thing is the Goth girls who speckle the colorful crowd with their brooding dark, blackness. I swear, it’s surreal watching these girls, who looks as if they’re all trying to turn the concert into a giant séance to call up the ghost of Souxie Sue (yeah, I know she’s not dead yet, but she might as well be). It wouldn’t be hard to picture Souxie Sue decending from the heavens at one of his concerts and doing a little goth housequake dance of some sort. But I digress, what I’m trying to say is that Prince’s crowds are amazing.

I mean, I could never picture a goth girl getting her goul on at an Enrique Iglesias concert!

I can't imagine another artist who can bring together strict religious types, gay dudes, and Original Gangstas the way our man P can...

When I went to the Musicology show a girl came up next to me. She was totally drunk, but she had on a button down shirt tucked into her jeans. That doesn't sound out of the ordinary except that it was UNBUTTONED--ALL THE WAY. And, to make it even more interesting she wasn't wearing a bra so her boobs were just hanging out. She had a friend that was sitting a row behind me. This was before the show so the lights were up and everyone was just looking at her like omg

Anyway, I totally agree with you AB777. The crowd was the most diverse crowd I've ever witnessed. I saw some grunge folks who looked like they should've been at a Nirvana concert, young people, black, white, asian, an older couple who had been fans for 25 plus years. They were dressed to the nines. It was really cool just to sit back and people watch.

its so interesting but I have been to so many Prince concerts and I see very few outwardly gay folks. In fact I think a lot of gay people are turned off by Prince because hes dresses so feminely yet has never acknowledged any gay bavior or leanings...they ironicaly find him strange (not all of course) Unlike how they love Madonna in dorves. Have you ever been to a Madonna concert. Now thats a Gay Pride event!!!!

Now there might be a gay following on this board...but truthfully P's audience is so fricken heterosexual its hilarious...

This diversity is another reason I love going to a Prince concert. At the last one, Musicology - Madison Square Garden NYC, I had to use the elevator to go home, due to sitting too long (the seats were too close to the stage for me to miss a moment) & all the rain that day (my knees lock-up). There were several disabled people waiting to go downstairs, on my floor. A feeling of awe rushed over me..."We're here because of one man". We're so cool...not even pain nor other limitations stop a Prince fan. grouphug @)-}-----}-----

Haven't had the opportunity yet to see him play, but the diversity and the incredible variety that you see in the fanbase has gotta be one of my favourite things about being a fan.
