Falsetto bashing It seems that I see more people posting about how much they can't stand P's falsetto.
I for one would like to stand up and say that this is the one thing that attracts me most to Prince. His ability ot take the male voice into realms usually held only by women. Each time I hear him hit notes it gives me the chills. **Do Me Baby-I said Oooh, Oooh, Oooh OOOHHH!! **When 2 R In Love-(towards the end when he says "Can you hear me" after singing When 2 R in love for the last time. **Adore-THE WHOLE DAMN SONG! **Tamborine (at the end when he repeats Tamborine over and over, especially the 2nd to last time he sings it!!) What falsetto moments touch you? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Some of Prince's songs are unimaginable without that falsetto. I never thought he overdid it. "The Beautiful Ones" is one of my favorite falsetto performances. Then there's "Lady Cab Driver"...unimaginable without it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I just love the range of Prince's voice. It is what made me an admirer of his music/voice/style/whatever.
I love the gospel voice, the screams, the rants. Has anyone noticed there is hardly any raw emotion spilling out through his voice lately? Or is it just old nostalgic me? The song One Nite Alone has it. Let's Have A Baby has it. The intimate gospels of a voice... :SIGH:

One of the most recent falsetto moments to give me the goosebumps is the second time he sings "U're in my blood like Holy Wine" on A Case Of U. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

This subject reminds me of when I was in high school & there was a discussion amongst a few guys in the gym locker room. They were saying how "Kiss" would be a good song if "Prince wasn't singing it like a woman".
By the way, I went to high school with a bunch of goddamn rednecks.

I love his falsetto in I Hate U when he sings:
"The act of showing you how good it used to be..." His falsetto sort of 'oscillates', quivers... Just one example.

I think it's DIVINE... it's part of what makes his voice so damn sexy and yea... definitely gives one chills... I can't get enough of that voice of his... just too beautiful... Yup... completely insatiable to it. --ยปYou're my favourite moment, you're my Saturday...

The way he sang "Avalanche"...
The way he sang "Adore" at the ONA shows... I think there are only a few examples where his lower voice woud fit better than his falsetto. I think for example that "Family Name" does not really work with a falsetto live. On the album, yes...but I think it doesn't sound quite right live. And I would love to hear him sing "Bambi" in a low voice!

ditto. His falsetto is my favorite thing about his music. It's cool how high and then low he can go. ...And when he sang 'Adore' at the Northrup Celebration, i was floored.

I was disappointed with the fact that he kept missing his cues so the pre-recorded background vocals were off (sometimes by a lot). I didn't notice it as much on the audience boot of this song (I think sometimes it depends on what monitor the taper is closest to), but I clearly remember thinking this while he was playing.

Cool as the other side of the pillow! Never get that high if my life depended on it...
What is the highest he has got in a song? The scream at the beginning of gett off has gotta be up there in the stratoshere!

My vote for highest he got was probably in the Most Beautiful Girl in the World...(you must be the..ahhh, yeah!) Dayum! He's definitely got a rare gift.

You have got to admit, for a guy whose natural voice is as deep as his, his falsetto is utterly phenominal.
I was playing something for the kids the other night and Prince was talking in his regular voice and they were like, "Who's that talking?" I said Prince. They were shocked. His vocal range is excellent and he doesn't need a synth to enhance his voice like others out there. Ok here's the edit. I was very suprised to hear how deep his voice really is. I love to hear him sing. Especially in concert. I took my brother to a concert of his a few years back and he was real shocked that Prince could hit those high notes live! Wooohooo!

I like most of the falsetto songs. But i dont like the falsetto on "when u where mine" It does not go with the music. Its better when he sings it with a "normal" voice. Like he does it when he plays the song live. free ur mind
