No particular song but the first album I first listened 2 was Around the world in a day, completley different to anything at that time..never liked Prince b4, but since then I've been hooked.

Prince doesn't make any bad songs, but he has such high standards that even his poorest songs, would perhaps be any other artist's great songs.

beautiful ones!

thats is 1984 to me!! That mix, that keyboard in the background, the r&b song that turns into a rock song.

amazing

When Doves Cry. We liked his songs (singles) before that and would flock to the tv when he was on (Solid Gold, MTV, BET) but when we heard "Doves" that changed er'thing.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I would say, for me, it was a tie between Controversy and 17 Days. i was truly a tyke when Controversy came out but I had first cousins who were teenagers then. They would play the album all the time and laugh when I used to attempt to dance to it.

I was like 10/11 when I first heard 17 Days. The radio station in my area played it a gazillion times a day (short and long version) for 17 Days leading up to the release of the movie Purple Rain. By the end of those 17 Days, I was so addicted to Prince, it would be nearly two decades later that I realized he can and did make crappy songs (cough NPS).

Believe it or not,the Prince song that won me over as a true fan was 'Partyup". I was 9 yrs old when the Dirty Mind album came out. Prince of course had 2 previous albums before then but as a youngster I still wasn't totally sold yet.(Especially since I were huge Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson fan at the time). I loved "Uptown" when it was played on the radio but when my cousin came over one day with the album and we started playing it, I was becoming intrigued until the last song on side 2.Yes it was "partyup" and that point on I fell in love with his music. Then, when "Controversy" came I was already sold. So "Partyup" will be that que song to me. Welcome 2 the dawn.
Peace and be wild!
