For me it's Tony M every time, i actually love the Prince deep voice narrator!

I'm fine with both thanks, I'd rather get rid of the rappers from C&D and replace those songs with something else (Calhoun Square, Da Bang, something like that).

Tony M was fine at the time. Sure it's dated now, but it worked with Prince's plan for a commercial record.
Darth however annoyed me from day one. It honestly ruins the whole album for me, which is a shame because it has some great songs and quality music on it.

tony m. has a certain outdated kitsch appeal that i really don't mind, even though i don't think i can tolerate him for the reasons originally intended as i'm not exactly agog over the science he drops with his mad skillz.

i always disliked the fat albert narrator on TRC. put it in the liner notes. i can barely understand the narration anyway. i think it screws up a perfectly good album.

The voice on TRC is just inbetween songs and you can skip it, Tony M on the other hand cannot be edited out and ruins some songs that would have had the potential to be timeless classics.

D&P and the symbol albums are great albums, but wouldn't be made any more brilliant if the rapping is taken out.


The RainBow Children is just shy of a brilliant album and the narration is what ruins it. There is no need to narrate a concept album if your concept is strong. God help us if Pink Floyd pulled that shit with "The Wall"

Neither! They both worked perfectly at the times they were needed. (Okay, confession: I do detest the Tony M banter w/ the agent at the end of MDMT. I know what P was trying to say, but...wow...)

hoping for that since D&P was 1st released.

I actually like the Vadervoice on TRC.

Personally I'd get rid of Tony M. I don't mind the narration on TRC.

But TRC is tarnished to many people who'd otherwise like it just because of the narration. Diamonds & Pearls reached people despite the cheesy rapping.

I m ok with both. Actually I dont like D&P but I am fan of The Symbol, and I tolerate Tony M...

The Darth Vader voice is the reason why TRC gets no play these days from me.
