Favorite and Least Favorite Color on Prince

I was wondering what your favorite and least favorite colors on Prince are.

For me, I love Prince in strong colors because of his golden/tan complexion. Jewel tones, black and white look best on him. I love him in a bold red:

It's my fave color on him. (Bet you're surprised I didn't say PURPLE!)

I hate Prince in pastels. It seems to wash his skin out and the pale colors rob him to me. One color in particular I hate on him, is orange. It just doesn't look cool to me and since he's so short, he looks like a little pumpkin!

Well what do you like and/or hate to see P in.

i love prince in orange, but i'm biased because orange is my favorite color!

i haven't seen him look too rotten in any color clothing. it's more the cut and style of his clothes that i like or dislike than the colors. i was gonna say i didn't like him in yellow, but those suits he was rockin' in 86 were pretty fierce...and that yellow overcoat he wore in promo pics for SOTT was pretty sweet too.

I don't like when he wears anything too bright or neon looking. I think he looks fantastic in black and, well, purple (naturally).

He looks good in many colors. Some shades of green might not work too well.

Sometimes it's not only about what one looks good in, it's also what one wants to give off. Too much of even the good colors (if they're too intense) and one starts to look like a toy...or too pop.

I like him in the solid non-colors, black and white. Grey can work too, but it has to be the right shade. He can wear the strong contrasts but black with creme is better than black and orange. Also, a large mass of red is better than a large mass of orange.

Still, I prefer black or white with silver(or other neutral stone or metal). Red or creme could work too. Just no orange.

Ooooh good topic! I love colors. wink

I think yellow he can pull off really well. Ofcourse he owns royal purple like no one eles but yellow looks fantasitc on him.

But red...not my favorite color on him...sometimes I am in the mood for red but for the most part it can come across a little obnoxious and overbearing like "Hey I am wearing red! Look at me!" I'm talking about anyone wearing red not just Mr. Nelson....it just take your attention away from the person and bring it to the suit. But sometimes you just feel red. biggrin And you gotta wear it!!!

I don't know why I always got the feeling Prince would like women wearing red...maybe because he is from that generation where men found red so sexy and siren like...they just see a woman wearing something red and it does something funny to their brains. Hahha hah....or maybe because he put Apollonia and other Prince girls in red lingere and fingernail polish...but then again actually the Prince girls wore alot of black lingere...so maybe his favorite color is black...hmmm..

People naturally respond to red in interesting ways. Even if they are not aware of it. When you see a woman (or anyone) in red, your pressure naturally rises. So the woman in red has the advantage, in that regard.

You're right, sometimes you feel like red. A little bit of this goes a long way, though. On stage you can get away with a bit more.

Just curious: If red says "look at me", what does orange say?

Oooh. Interesting. Orange? I don't know if too many people could pull that off...you might look like a walking popsicle! LOL. Seriously when wearing orange I guess you gotta have guts. biggrin

But I guess what color you decide to wear really depends on your mood. Intresting what you say about red and humans responses to it. I find that to be ttrue. Yet honestly I notice older mens reactions verses younger ones to me when I wear red..older guys really enthusasticaly respond to it and I think it really just triggers sex in their brains or something. Younger guys seem to be hightly ambivilant to it in my experience...like wearing red is too obviously trying to be sexy and that concept is too old fashioned or something. They do seem to like white, or baby pink or something more innocent.

I've even noticed that with nails too like younger guys love love love french manicures...older guys go absolutley nuts if you are sporting long red fingernails.

You're right. The kids are more conditioned to respond to what MTV says is sexy...even if it's green. They rationalize sexuality. Red still triggers the sexual button though...they may, then, choose to mentally cancel it out but physically they will respond.

Your observations are interesting. I don't think I own anything red. Maybe I'll get a red scarf (that's the most I can imagine wearing of it) and try that out. I'll let you know how that goes.

Yes yes! You are right about that! My generation really is affected by what is popular nowadays...I've noticed so many sexy actresses wear pastles and have have french manicures. So I guess that is now what guys like.

I was wearing red lingere for my boyfriend and he was like..."Err.. I like you in white...I'm sorry but red really kinda turns me off...it reminds me of the eighties pornos I used to watch when I was a kid..that is all those ladies wore..red or royal blue" Lol. sad

But when I see like eighties movies all the actresses that were like sexy had long red fingernails and red lips. Like I guess if a woman had a day job and was typing away with long sexy red fingernails people would be like "Whoa what a slut" or something...like how innaporpriate! lol Now people don't seem to really be like that.

I knew one girl I danced with who had a day job..she was a little older and still thought that way...she would wear pastles on her nails and when she got to work out came the red nail polish.

By the way, depending on your coloring..if you wanna try something red..try a lipstick..you will definatly get ALOT of attention with that. Expecially since I hardly see women wearing it anymore. Some men lose their damn minds if the see an attractive woman with red lipstick. biggrin

Again, you're right. Once in a blue, i'll put on a redder lipstick. What's interesting is that certain nationalities respond more than others (regardless of age) and yes, older guys seem to respond regardless of nationality. Guys are so interesting.

As soon as MTV says that red is sexy again, those that suppress what is natural will stop thinking it away. Red is nature's way of saying that something is ripe. It's like an inborn response.
Anyway, better get back on topic.

Maybe we should do a poll/study in GD.

I kind of like this. I know it was part of a suit, but if he would have just pounced onstage in blue and pink with no connection, I would have fainted, it would have been so bad.

I hated the yellow overcoat from LS. Uusually yellow looks good on him because he's yellow, but damnit, that was overkill!

I really liked the blue version of the "Kiss" outfit he wore on the "Parade" tour.

I liked the green from "Alphabet Street" because it kind of broght out the green in his eyes, but I'd rather him in a hunter green rather than a mint green.

I have to say that I don't really dig green on him. There were a few times when he wore lime/neon green. disbelief There was also a pic released by NPGMC. It was he and Tamar and he was wearing dark green, but it reminded me of pea soup. ill

My favorite would have to be just about any shade of blue I think, but he really looks good in most colors.

Oh, I also don't like light brown on him. It matches his skin too closely and he looks washed out.

That's one pic that makes me wonder "how did that happen?". It also makes me want to put talcum on him and give him a bottle. I would crop that one just where the pink begins and pretend the pants are white.
