Knock 3121 as much as you like...

... but 'Love' is such a fantastic pop song. The craftsmanship going into this song is incredible... 3121 and The Word are the two stand out tracks, but Love is magnificent.

I really liked it the first time I heard it, but lately I find it's the weakest track on the album. All the other tracks have something special and unique about them, but "Love" to me just sounds like the standard post-Warner Bros Prince track. It could have easily fit on Emancipation, NPS, Rave, Chocolate Invastion, Slaughterhouse or Musicology, and it wouldn't have sounded out of place. Don't get me wrong, I still like it well enough, but I just don't find it that amazing when compared to "3121", "Fury" and "The Word" etc,

got to agree with you boysimon, love and the word are definitely two stand out tracks. Very worthy of recognition and praise. Just because they sound like standard P music does not make them any less valuable to me. Heck I would I would hear an overabundance of standard P music. So to others knock 3121 as much as you like but I got to be down with this thread because these two tunes among others are very sweet!

VERY GOOD album IMO! i have expressed my dissapoints about it but they didn't come from Prince.

I wish mike(for short) who mastered and engineered D & P did this too.

Love was me and my now ex gf's special song. I adore it. It's got fitting lyrics and one of the absolute best bridges near the end. It's just too bad that listening to it will upset me for a while.

I really like "Love" too. It is definitely a straight up pop song. It's not my favorite track though. That goes to "The Dance".

I played it after reading this thread but it still sounds like a song for Britney or Justin Timpberlake. Hammy groove and lyrics.
No hard feelings.

I still "love" this song and I still love 3121. I see this song as another missed opportunity for the man because this song was BEGGING to be a single and it should have been. It makes me wanna dance, in fact this is the first CD in years that I've wanted to dance to and for that alone, it's special. People can knock it all day long for all I care, but it'll still be one of my favorites.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
