New Prince album: now i know what i want!

Right now i am listening to Chaos and Disorder, and alltough the songwriting isnt always splendid, my feeling is: WOW, what a raw guitar sound! WOW, what a lively feel: the joy of playing music really shines trough! WOW, the rhythemtandem of Sonny Thompson and Michael Bland sounds so very urgent!

So, Prince, dive into your studio with Sonny, Michael, a hammond-organ player and the NPG Hornz for a funky touch, spend some more effort in the songwriting, record the thing in just a week, dont use any extra sound effects and shred it all on those screaming vocals and your guitar!

Getting onedimensional here, but right now i am still raving on Chaos and Disorder.

Three last comments:

I rock therefore i am is in my opinion the single most underrated dancetrack by Prince among Prince-fanatics, its one pure blast of energy, the beat is BIG (think 'one nation under a groove' but multiplied 10 times), and it keeps the momentum going by switching between singing, raps, toasting and guitarbursts. Rosies background vocals are also very rewarding, giving the track an extra 'push'.

Into the light is one of best Prince ballads ever IMO. The piano work is beautifull, the melody is more subtle then usually is the case with Prince songs and the background vocals from Rosie are spinechilling. The main problem however is that the song is way too short, it seems like to be made into an edit, so it could flow into I will. I hope someday we will get a full version of this beautifull song, when the vault gets opened wink

The main flaw of Chaos and Disorder is that the last two songs dont fit in with the rest of the material. It sounds like the songs from the opening track unto I will are recorded in one or a few sessions with a steady backing band. The two last tracks sound as being recorded by Prince himselve in another session. He probably included them because otherwise the record would be to short, but still it doesnt 'fit' soundwise and the album suffers from it.

Still i go for a 7 1/2 when it comes to Chaos and Disorder
