Do you ever close your eyes when you listen to Princes music?


Do you ever think what was going through his mind when he wrote "that"song.

I started listening to his music differently when I did that!

One of the first songs I remember thinking about was "Anna Stesia" - which up until that point had always slightly irriated me.

When I started to really listen properly I understood how tormented and sad Prince was when he wrote it.

Again I realised Alphabet Street wasn't just a pretty little lyric but a song about choosing our words properly, the meaning of words, the hidden meaning of words, the power of words. I suddenly realised how clever it was.

When 2 R In Love always seems to be contiually slated but again I think this is one of Princes most beautiful songs. It really epitomises two people in-love and whispering in their own special language. It's about true and deep connection with love, emotion and sex. It's not casual sex - this is deep and meaningful sex. Wow, I like a man that's romantic!

Anyway I listened and listened and I just thought "Wow, this man has really poured his heart out to us through his music" Even songs like "Bambi", "Head" and "Sister" have a deeper meaning and hidden elements.

I was blown away.

The one song I loved was If I Was Your Girlfriend. I still till this day have never heard a song like it. And the last line "We'll try to imagine what silence looks like. We'll try to imagine..."

And I did!

For a long time I have been closing my eyes when listening to Prince's music, exception: when I am driving. Also try listening with a good set of high quality headphones the kind that block out all other sound. You'll hear things you've never heard before, trust me.

What kind of hidden elements do you hear in Head ?

Just asking, you´re making me curious.

I usually close my eyes when I listen 2 Prince! I thought I was the only person 2 do this!

Um... If I'm in my room, I'll close my eyes and listen to his music, but if I'm on the computer, (just about all the time), then I don't really do that...obviously.

I know exactly what u mean.....i close my eyes a lot when I'm listening 2 Prince.....especially his love songs.....

I thought I was the only one!!!
His voice goes right through me.....right through me!..... and after all these years it's never stopped!!!

Sure, I like to let go and immerse myself in his voice, words, music, etc. Quite often I get transported and our minds meet in that other place.

Yes. Do you ever listen to his music in the dark? I swear it sounds so different much more intimate like he's singing just for you!

Not to be evasive I don't recommend a specific model or brand because things change every 6 months in terms of ratings. Plus I openly admit I am not currently a audiophile freak that knows the technical in and outs of gear like some of my friends do. Again I would simply go to a store which sells decent equipment and explain what you want. I am sure they'll point you in the right direction. My headphone are 10 years old and are made by SONY and cost me $145.00 in 1996. Hope this helps. Seriously try it let me know what you think
