From a lyrics perspective, what is Princes best song?

I know he's not a poet, because he doesn't want to blow it. But he is still a heck of a songwriter in my mind. What do you think are some of his best writtin songs?

The ones that jump out at me

TMBGITW
The Dance
Reflection
Money Don't matter tonight

and there are a bunch of gems on SOTT.

What are you favorites?

Sometimes It Snows In April

The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker

If I Was Your Girlfriend

The Beautiful Ones

When Doves Cry

Something In The Water

Purple Rain

Anna Stesia

(When You Were Mine

Everywhere ( the positivity and sheer energy and joy of this song transcend the overtly religious and partly dogmatic message of it because it brings across a contagious feeling of happiness, plus the musical delivery is superb).

In A Large Room With No Light

Strollin

I Wish U Heaven

Paisley Park

Anotherloverwholenyohead

Strays Of The World

Last December ( again, stuff like..." in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son..." is not necessarily something I agree with because the Trinity is not part of my religious identity or worldview and I believe that good songwriting is the kind of songwriting where a lot of people can relate to the lyrics but in this case, just like I said above, the music and the whole delivery of the partly great, great lyrics makes me simply ignore some details...)

Others Here With Us

Power Fantastic

Dreamin About U

17 Days

Empty Room

Another Lonely Christmas

Let´s Go Crazy

The Dance Electric

Reflection

Mountains

The Dance

I Hate U ( especially the extended remix)

Money Don´t Matter 2Nite

Forever In My Life

And God Created Woman

Joy In Repetition

7

Nothing Compares 2 U

However Much U Want

The Sacrifice Of Victor

Of course there are tons more but these are among my favorite ones when it comes to songwriting. I´m sure I forgot many songs.

(How did I forget " Sign O The Times " edit ...)

Second edit : Adore ( probably among my top ten ).

Why is it that so many on here feels the need to explain away Prince's religious feelings? I love this song just because of the lyrics. Without God, it ISN'T there!

I like the lyrcs as well, otherwise I wouldn´t have nentioned that song, and I also wasn´t complaining about his religious feelings but the way some lyrics exclude some listeners, that´s all. I have respect for the JWs and their religion but their truth is not necessarily my truth, if there is a truth at all.
Anyway, this is an old topic with Prince and goes way way to the 80´s , and it´s not that I´m an Atheist either, I just prefer an approach that is a bit more universal...that´s all.

For me its def "The Holy River"....The lyrics are soul searching for me.
Let's go down 2 the holy river,
If we drown then we'll be delivered.
If we don't then we'll never see the light.
If U die before U try,
U'll have 2 come back and face the light.
When U believe it, U got a good reason 2 cry.
