I actually like Prince's song incense and candles.

It don't love it , and I'm not sure if I dislike or just am indifferent to the rap in it, but overall I don't think the track is half bad. Unfortunately the vocal treatment would have been spot on 4 years ago, but does sound a little bit retro now.

But the songs I "LOVE" to burn incense and candles to is anything slow from Emancipation. It totally lends itself to the "Incense and Candles" mood. I'm playing CD2 of EMancipation now and my incense burners are behing used (see figure 1)

For me it's Prince's tribute to Roger Troutman of Zapp.

I always hoped that Prince and Roger would work together, but unfortunately this never happened. They where on the same concert bill in 82/83. I'm still wondering if they met back then and how their relationship was.

Roger expressed his admiration for Prince in his song 'it doesn't really matter', so I like to think that 'incense and candles' is Prince's belated reply....

I like "Incense & Candles" 2...It wasn't one of the original songs listed on the 3121 songlist in March of 2006..It replaced "I Don't want 2 all Night"
at the last moment...
