Laz Vegas = Nude Redux

Saw the 3121 Las Vegas concert and couldn't quite shake the feeling that Prince saw a way to make a fast buck again. Look, because it's Prince, even when he's on automatic, it's still a better concert than most but even he has to concede that he's hardly challenging anyone here, least of all himself. Ah well, who cares? Good luck to him.

I remember hearing that the NUDE tour was set up because financial advisors told him that a large injection of cash was needed - immediately. Hence, a hastily gathereed tour with minimalist sets, small band, guitar based songs (hits) and a trek through Europe, where he was stupidly popular a the time.

Does all this sound familiar with Vegas? Only thing is, he can't possibly need the money!

So you went to the show or you saw the show wink ?

His fight with WB was just as much about money.

Personally I could care less whether the Nude tour was financially motivated, I really dug the tour big style. I'm sure those lucky enough to be able to attend Club 3121 would no doubt say the same of their experiences too.

End of story really. shrug

The thing about Vegas is that its just conjurs up images of acts milking teh last bit of money out of there career...its synonamous with career death throws.

Im not saying Prince is at that stage but when he seems reluctant to show the world what he can still do (he could easily have done something at the UK Hall of Fame instead of saying that he could play because he didnt have his band)the general public are going to wonder..I mean its been, what, 4 years since the handful of ONA shows hit Europe.

I don't understand your question. Please re-read my words. Also, who mentioned WB?

Well, your response starts with an opinion and ends with conjecture. Not to be rude but how can that be the 'end of the story.'

Ok, let me break it down for you a little more - I was simply saying that at the end of the day - it's all relative to personal experience.

Thing is, you act like Prince is doing us a favor. The reality is: we're 'lucky enough' to see Prince if we can afford the nearly $150 price tag to watch him go through the motions - not the privilige and glory of seeing his almightyness in concert.

See. I'm breaking it down for you now.

It's not about the money for Prince anymore, jeez.

1. He turned down any money for his work on HAPPY FEET.
2. He's working a 900 seat venue for roughly 200 a head...he'd be
making a lot more money doing a regular concert tour.

What he's doing is stretching his legs...trying something different
for a change. He'll change his mind again real soon.

Prince is easy to read when it comes to his money-making projects.
PURPLE RAIN, DIAMONDS & PEARLS, BATMAN and MUSICOLOGY were made to "pay the
bills"
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Exactly. Peeps are acting up like he's never gonna tour again.

Fear not, 2007 is not too far away!

I agree, he toured. It's not as if he made an ad for hemorroid cream in Japan (hoping it would never be aired to the rest of the world) then you could say he did for the money.

Tickets for the Nude tour went on sale 6 months before the tour started. So I wouldn't call that hastily gathered.

Who said anything about Prince actually needing the money?

As for 'trying something different,' well, it's pretty obvious you haven't seen the show yet.

Oh do grow up, if you can't discuss this with other orgers and at least agree to disagree with some degree of civility regardless of your thoughts and perspectives then this thread is pretty pointless.

Just letting you know in advance, so play nice.

Maybe Prince is hummmm.....uhmmmm....experimenting and trying out novelty ideas. Prince always had a level head and great amazing gifts to share. I really don't know. Maybe Prince wants us on our tip-toes and do a symphony for a ballad. I don't know. hmmm....

He could make far more from a proper tour with thousands of people stumping up the cash rather than the cash from just 900 people over just 2 nights a week.

I don't know how anyone can say this Vegas thing is a 'quick buck' - if anything, it is a 'slow buck'!
