Does Prince have any REAL heartfelt songs that move you?

I was listening to zeppelin's 'all of my love'(robert wrote it for his dead son) and i was thinking why doesn't Prince have any real emotional songs?

He's never addressed any family deaths or dedicated/wrote any deep songs for them.

Do you know what i mean? There's nothing that moves me.

Are you kidding? Songs like I Love U But I Don't Trust You Anymore, Comeback, Purple Rain, Something in the Water, etc. are as emotional as they get.

I ain't really looking for deep meaning when I listen to music. There are songs that have deep meaning to Prince, I'm sure but what they mean to me is just something that sounds good and helps me clean my house or wash my car faster.

He may have actually addressed some powerful moments in his life in his music that we know nothing about because he doesn't talk about that stuff. I mean, you only know about that Zeppelin joint because Robert Plant revealed the backstory of why the song was written. Would it be that deep if you didn't know that?

It's just like Billy said in Purple Rain, his music makes sense to no one but himself.

Think my personal faves would be 'The Love We Make', 'Last December', 'Empty Room', 'Open Book' and 'The Beautiful Ones'. But when that last call to arms comes in on 'Purple Rain' - that still gives me goosebumps - no matter how many times I've heard it.

Why does that matter? If the emotion is real, you can apply it to your own personal situation. I couldn't care less WHY Prince wrote the song, so long as it touches ME.

I think there are a few on Emancipation, they are supprisingly personal, and seem to make perfect sense, without no 'open for interpratation' lyrics.

WTF ?

Another lonely Christmas is an amazing heartleft song !
Sometimes it snow in April is an amazing heartleft song !
Condition of the Heart is an amazing heartleft song !
Purple Rain is an amazing heartleft song !
The Cross is an amazing heartleft song !
The Love we make is an amazing heartleft song !

Don't need to write about your mum or dad to make people cry and to be sincere in what you do. These tunes are all the fruits of Prince's emotions.

'sometimes it snows in april' is about a film character, but it's one of the most moving songs i think prince has ever done. who cares what inspired him to write and record his songs? it's how we connect with the music that's important. i think songs where the artist must let everyone know "oh, this is about my wife's gastric bypass and how much it means to me" or whatever is more maudlin than heartfelt. just sing the damn song and let us attach our own meaning to it. i think that's how prince approaches most of his songs - i bet we don't know the half of what or who has inspired most of his music, and i think that's great.

falloff

I think Anx was making fun of the fact that his style of singing and overall sound was emulated to the point of exhaustion.

Kurt Cobain was always tied into other seatle acts like Pearl Jam and Sound Garden, but he had a great deal of disdain for those other groups, considering them "L.A. Hair bands" that cleaned up their image for the 90's. Which if you saw the Metal Sludge pictures of Alice In Chains, you'd agree with him. lol
